The atmosphere in the hall was beyond eerie as everyone registered Shivaay's words.How was it possible that Shivaay,for whom his family was beyond anything else in the world,would leave the said family behind for his wife?No one dared to speak after this resolute decision for a long time,until finally,Dadi spoke up.Being the eldest in the family,and it's foundation too,it was high time that she took charge of things.But what she said was not something any of them would have expected.
"Whatever decision you take, Billu, I am with you."
Pinky,who had been shocked to the core by Shivaay's decision, now turned to her mother-in-law.
"Oh my mata mummyji,what are you saying?My son is talking about leaving the house,and you say you'll support him?" She had tears rolling down her face at this point.After all,her plan to oust Annika away from the house had backfired on herself.She had clearly underestimated the depth of her son's feelings for the girl.
"Yes,Pinky."Dadi said in a stern, firm voice. "And I say this after looking at things from all perspectives.Annika is the daughter-in-law of this house.But the way you treat her,is not how the bahu of Oberois is to be treated.So if my grandson and his wife find respect and happiness by staying away,I have no problem with it."Saying that,she walked away to her room, clear indicating that she wasn't open for discussion on this matter.
Annika,who had been silent till now, and just as astonished as Pinky, spoke up timidly.
"Shivaay, what are you saying?How can you just say-"
"I mean what I said, Annika. Let's go and pack our bags now." Shivaay moved towards her,and took her hand.He was about to advance to their bedroom, when Pinky came in front.
"Shivaay," Her tone was accusing. "Are you really going to leave your mother,your entire family behind for her?I kept you in my womb for 9 whole months,and raised you.Is this how you repay me?"
"If it is a matter of repaying, mom,then I have done that a long time ago-by being the perfect son that you have always wanted.I think it's high time now that I do what I want." Saying that,Shivaay dragged Annika away to their room,while everyone looked on.

"Shivaay,please.We can't do this.We can't leave the family behind.I don't want to be the reason you get separated from your family."
They were in their bedroom now, and while Shivaay speedily put his and Annika's clothes into a suitcase,Annika stood still, gallons of tears rolling down her face.
Shivaay sighed. "How many times do I tell you,huh?We.are.leaving.And that's final.And please,stop blaming yourself,it's my decision."
"But you're taking this decision because of me.Please think it through,Shivaay.Pinky aunty will hate me forever."
"Doesn't she already?"Shivaay gave a sarcastic smile. After having packed the suitcase,he walked over to Annika.
"Listen to me,Annika," he said,cupping her face in his hands and wiping her tears with his thumbs. "Mom will never accept you unless she realizes how important you are to me,and there's no way to show it other than by leaving.So this is temporary,okay?I know my mom;soon, she will realize that you and me,we're no longer separate.We're together.If she wants me,she has to have you too.Complementary goods, you know?" He added with a smirk.
Annika smiled amidst the tears.
"We'll come back soon,right?You know how much this family means to me too.All my life I've been yearning for a family's love,and I don't want to give it away now that I finally have it." She sobbed,before continuing. "And what about Om and Rudra, Shivaay? I know that you can't livewithout them.What will they-"
"We don't have a problem, bhabi."
Her two adorable devars said in unison ,from where they had appeared by the door.
"In fact," Om continued, "We both support Shivaay's decision.Since you two got married,you've had to face countless problems.So if you stay away from the OM for a while,it'll give you a chance to relax and live for yourselves for a bit. Moreover, give choti maa the chance to repent for sometime.As they say, you only know the true value of something when it's gone." He had a far-away look in his eyes, as if what he said was meant for himself more than for them.
Clearing his throat, he continued. "Anyway, just forget about everything else for a few days, and enjoy each other's presence.We'll handle everything here."
"Think of it as a pre-honeymoon,bhaiya" Rudra said to Shivaay with a mischievous wink.This made Annika blush furiously,while Shivaay muttered "Shut up,Rudra."
"Anyway," Shivaay said, trying to avoid the awkward situation Rudra had arised. "We should get going now.Khanna must be ready with the car.I'll give you a call when we reach,yeah?" he then engulfed his brothers into a bear hug, pulling in Annika after a while too.
Half an hour later, Shivaay and Annika were enroute to an apartment the Oberois had in the outskirts of Mumbai, having said their good-byes to everyone in the family, and promised to return soon.Thankfully, Pinky had already retired to her room after breaking down in hysterics, so they had been able to avoid any more drama before leaving.
"What are you thinking, Annika?"
They had been sitting in silence for a long time, both staring out of the window into the dark night, as Khanna ji drived the car.
"Nothing,Shivaay.I'm just feeling...anxious.About what the future holds."
Shivaay scooted closer to her,and kept an arm around her shoulder.
"Just relax,Annika.You don't need to worry about anything as long as I'm around,okay?And,I'm planning to be around for a long,long time." He smirked,making Annika smile.
"Anyway,we still have an hour before we reach,so you should sleep for a while.It's been a tiring day."
With that,he made Annika rest her head on his shoulder.Snuggling to him, she finally relaxed, and started looking forward to spending the next few days alone with her handsome,stubborn, maniac of a husband.
Okay so I sort of wrote this in a hurry,and I really don't know how it's turned out.I know it's short but I have my exams going on so I can spare very little time for writing.The next update might take a while,since my brother is coming home tomorrow after almost 10 months.I'll still try and update, but the next chapters will probably be short as well.Anyway, hope you liked this chapter,and do leave your feedback!They mean the world to me.
