Chapter 3

"Mujhe kuch samaj nai araha hai. Do I trust her or do I not? Don't be silly Omkara! Do you want to be left heart broken again. You can't turn to those roots again! It has nothing in store for you! Then why does my heart beat towards her? Why can't I seem to forget her? She's nothing, but Swetlana part 2. A money grabbing opportunist who can do anything just to get what she wants, but she's said herself she had a reason." All these thoughts occupied Omkara's brain as time ticked on he knew the only way to get these answers was from the girl herself, but to avoid being lied to he did the most practical thing and phoned up his detective and ordered for him to find out everything about Kali Thakur and Gauri Kumari Sharma. The clock was striking at 10, but he was confused as to what he should, so his feet took him to the only person who might have an understanding of his fears, his mother.

"Maa, main kise par bharosa kaise nahin kar sakta?" Asked Omkara whilst entering his mother's room.

"Yeh kaisa sawal hai, Omkara." Said Jhanvi who was started with Omkara's unannounced entry.

"Pata nahin mom. Main kise par bharosa karna chahta hoon, par mujhe lagta hai ye galat hoga." Said a confused Omkara.

"Beta, bharosa koi cheez nahin hai jo roka jata hai. Agar tumhara dil uss insaan ke taraf dari karta hai toh usse roko mat."

"What if that person can hurt you?"

"Everyone can hurt you, but not everyone can gain your trust. Even if the person you trust hurts you can't always blame them as everyone makes mistakes we're all humans after all. You should just learn from the mistakes and I know some mistakes can't be forgiven, but instead of being hung up on it you should just stay away from the negativity. Everything is a lesson, but that doesn't mean you stop trusting people in order to not get hurt. Nobody likes getting hurt, but without getting hurt you won't realise the value of the good things you have in life." Said Jhanvi trying to be a help to his son who seemed to be in deep thinking.

Omkara realised one thing from his mother's words that he needs to at least talk to Gauri and let her speak which he's never actually let her done.

"Thanks mom! I love you!" Omkara kissed his mom and wished her goodnight to which Jhanvi smiled. Jhanvi knew now wasn't the time to ask questions as Omkara was on a journey of his own, so she let him be and hoped that she was of some sort of help in bringing her old Omkara back. As soon as Omkara closed the door his phone started ringing with the caller turning out to be his detective. "Did you find anything?" His detective knew that Omkara was only interested in this and nothing more, so he began to explain what he found out. How Gauri was involved in what could be one of the worst incidents of her life. Her giving up her life just so her ill mother would be fine. How she was forced to marry Kali Thakur along with his brothers. How she was pelted with stones by the villagers, how it was her own uncle and aunt who had sold her to the dirty hands of Kali Thakur.

Omkara disconnected the phone and was rooted to his spot he couldn't believe how wrong he's been. He said he hated her the most in the world, but for what? For something that wasn't even her fault, for something she tried to stop and not act as a catalyst. Gauri was no home wrecker she was no Swetlana she was just simple Gauri who nothing, but selfless. And he had the audacity to compare her to Swetlana the witch. His eyes filled with tears as he came to the realisation that he ditched an innocent women, so she can be given to the hands of the disgusting man. He left her to die a living death with Kali Thakur. She had saved him even though she knew that was her only chance to escape she still thought of him first, but he never even gave her a chance just left her to die. He knew sorry would be such a small word to say, but he still had hope that she'd forgive him. His feet took small steps towards her room having no idea what he'd say he walked to her room. "What the hell?" Sorry should've been his first words, but he just stared at the women sitting on the floor and realised she still hasn't dressed her wound. Omkara startled Gauri and his words just made her seem to remember his hatred for her which Omkara at that moment wanted the last thing to happen.

"Woh Hume Maaf kardo hume nahin pata tha ke aap iss ghar mein rehte hain warna hum kabhi nahin atte yahan." Gauri mumbled out the words worriedly which notified Omkara that Gauri was scared of him. Omkara's reaction to her words completely surprised Gauri as he knelt down next to her and started dressing her wound. She couldn't believe her eyes the man that hated her the most was helping her. Omkara carefully dressed her wound as he kept taking her glances at her with her face full of confusion and love. Her mind shifted to all those memories she had with him in Bareilly. The most important memory being their wedding although, he left her, she had no complains after all what was she to him his wife? You can only accept that tag once your husband loves you after all, the relationship between a husband and wife is love. All these sweet memories became bitter after she remembered Kali Thakur without him none of these misunderstandings would've occurred and neither would she be here besides her husband. Her mind was ready to explode as his words came back to haunt her. Omkara had finished dressing her wound, but instead of saying Thank you, Gauri yanked her arm out of his delicate hold and started saying "Mujhe yahan se jana hai main yahan nahin rehsakti."

"Pagal hogi ho tum! Time dekho aur tumhe jana hai! Kahan jaogi aur kaise jaogi? Katra hai bahar!" Omkara said as his anger grew. Why would anyone say that when he himself said she can stay here.

"Mujhe kuch pata nahin par Mujhe jana chahiye." Said Gauri as she moved towards the door. Omkara pulled Gauri into his hold and pressed her against the wall. "Tum kaheen nahin jaa rahi ho!" Tears started to form in Gauri's eyes.

"Aap kyun nahin samaj rahe main nahin rehsakti yahan." Said Gauri whilst staring at Omkara's eyes.

"Kya wajah hai? Kyun ki main hoon yahan isilye? Itni nafrat karti ho tum mujhse?" Said Omkara disappointedly.

"Nahin! Kyun ki main ye nahin chahti ke aapko kuch bhee ho." Said Gauri letting her feelings out. Taking a deep breath she revealed how earlier on Kali Thakur stated he wanted to take revenge from Jhanvi because you married me. "Mujhe lagta hai ke who aapko aur aap ke parivaar valo se badla lena chahte hai. Main ye nahin chahti ke meri vaja she aapko aur aap ke parivaar valo ko kuch ho isilye Mujhe jaane do." Omkara didn't know what to say. The girl in front of him was nothing what he thought she was and he knew he had to do something to make her forgive him even though he knew if he says sorry she'll forgive him, but that's not how Omkara works, so he planned to save her from that beast who he left her with. He's only aim now was to free her him from the man's wretched hands even if that meant putting his life at risk before he unwillingly saved her, but this time he's prepared to die for her.

"Tum kahin nahin jaa rahi ho. Mujhe kuch hua to hua par main tumhe akela nahin chorne wala." Omkara said intensely whilst hoping she'd allow him to help her.

"Agar tumhe kuch hua toh?" Gauri said hoping to stop him, but Omkara was now too devoted in helping her. Omkara noticed the sindoor in her parting.

"Agar tum humare rishta ko manti ho toh Mujhe kuch nahin hoga kyun ki jab ek biwi sache dil se praarthana karti hai uske pati keliye toh uss pati ko kaise kuch ho sakta hai." Gauri noticed a change in the way Omkara was talking. All this intensity was probably too much for her as she's always been a selfless girl, but today there was someone who wanted to help her instead. "Main tumhe akela nahin chorne wala isilye meri Aadat daal lo." Said Omkara smiling and trying to lighten the mood.

Gauri closed her eyes and let her tears drip, but she couldn't feel at rest without asking the question, so with whatever strength she had she opened her eyes to look into the intense eyes of Omkara and asked "kyun kar rahe ho ye sab? Apni jaan ko kyun kurbaan kar rahe ho?"

"Sach bolon toh mujhe khudh nahin pata. Gauri tum janti ho sorry ek chota shabd hai aur who kabhi kafi isilye... Omkara slowly let go of Gauri and knelt to the floor and lifted his hands to ask forgiveness to Gauri's surprise. "Gauri Mujhe Maaf kar do. Maine joh kuch bhi kiya tumhare saath who galat tha. Tumhe sab kuch keliye blame kiya jab ki tumhare koi galti nahin thi. I'm sorry Gauri, I really am." Omkara said whilst his head lowered, but before he can fully lower it, Gauri with her two delicate hands stopped him causing him to look at her as she knelt down with him.

"Maafi woh log mangte hai jisne koi galat kaam kiya hai aur aapne kuch galat nahin kiya isilye maafi mang ke hume naa sharminda karo. Humare rishta kabhi nahin joor sakta isilye jo aapne kiya woh bilkul sahi tha." Said Gauri as she realised the reason due to Omkara's sudden change of attitude and behaviour towards her.

"Maine tumhe ek jaanwar ke saath chod diya aur tum kehri ho ke Maine kuch galat nahin kiya." Said Omkara in disbelief as to what she had said.

"Omkara ji, humara rishta hi kya tha joh main aapse ye umeed karoon ke aap Mujhe bachaye." Said Gauri trying to reason with Omkara.

"Teek hain tab humara koi rishta nahin tha par ab tum meri biwi ho isilye tumhari raksha karna mera farz hai." Said Omkara with the purest intentions.

"Par agar aapko kuch ho Gaya toh? Main kabhi apne aap ko Maaf kar sakti." Said Gauri still not wanting anything from Omkara.

Omkara raised his hands to hold Gauri's face "Arre meri panchvi pass, Gauri Kumari Sarma Maine pehle bhi kaha tha ke agar meri biwi mere liye praarthana karne toh Mujhe kuch nahin hoga." Omkara said this as Gauri broke out into a smile with the slightest hope that maybe, somehow their relationship could work. Sensing that he may have convinced Gauri, Omkara picked Gauri up in his arms and made his way to the bed and placed her carefully whilst joining her. Although this surprised Gauri, Omkara revealed his intentions were pure as they lay together in each other's arms whilst Omkara whispered in Gauri's hair "Maine kaha tha ke ab main tumhe kabhi nahin chodonga aur woh main ab se shuroo karta hoon." Gauri smiled to that and they both slept knowing that they had each other and unknown to them that this was the beginning of a relationship that could never be broken after all destiny can never be changed.
