Shivika Os - Late nights with Mr and Mrs SSO
"Mujhe abhi bhi yaad hain, meri pehle Karwa Chauth, iss ghar mein" Annika said to herself softly, as she looked out the window space and out to the pool area.
She always loved that their room was the closest room in the entire Oberoi mansion to the pool. She liked looking at the water slowly ripple from their room. It was a peaceful sight to get lost in. But every time she tried to enjoy the tranquility this view brought, she couldn't help but bite back on her chuckles. They should've known that the same water they threw on each other in hate would be right outside the warm laughter filled walls of their bedroom, and relentless banters too, witnessing the love which had blossomed. So ironic, foreshadowing even.
She got up and walked to the edge of the pool and sat with her legs dangling into the pool, dipping a hand in and slowly gliding her fingers throw the cool water. The entire house was silent, save for the sounds of the ripples she made which danced from the strings of her fingertips. Smiling at her reflection, she unconsciously raised the other hand to touch the strands of black beads which rested on her neck. The glittering center twinkled in its reflection.
Clad in her white salwar-kameez, with no jewellery but her mangalsutra, she felt almost as serene and angelic as her husband thought she looked.
Shivaay turned in his sleep and reached for her. When he didn't feel the soft touch of her skin, he got up and looked around his room, his eyes stopping on the sight that came into view. He got off the bed and walked towards the doorway, leaning on the door frame as he folded his arms and drank in the sight of her.
"Toh issi bare mein meri Paanika itni soch rahe hai?" Shivaay said, walking towards her.
"Mmm" she replied, a slight smile making its way onto her face.
"Are you just gonna stand there and look, as you have been doing for the past ten minutes?" she asked, tilting her head to the side to look at him as he walked to her.
"Wow, I see you're learning another habit of mine" he said with a whisper of a smile.
She giggled as he sat next to her. "You think only you can sense when I'm around? Only Sri Sri Sri Bhagad Billa Singh Oberoi Maharaj can have that talent?" She questioned him loudly, narrowing her eyes at him.
"I guess Mrs Bhagad Billa has also picked up my habit of scolding" he teased.
"Oh hello, don't call me that!"
"Shhh let's not ruin this moment" He hushed her as he put an arm around her and pulled her close.
"Wah Billuji, mujhe abhi bhi hairaan ho jab tum aise..." she blushed and looked down.
"Jab main kaise?" he raised an eyebrow while his other hand dipped into the water and he placed his palm on the back of her hand and glided through the water with her.
"Exactly, aise" she replied, looking to both their hands
"Ohhh you mean like this?" He asked with a glint of mischief in his eye that had she enough time. she would have removed herself from his embrace but before she could blink, he held her hand even more tightly and splashed water on her.
"Fhat the WUCK!!" she said as she jumped back a little, out of his embrace and wiped her face with her dupatta.
"Shhh you'll wake the others" he laughed as he tried to stop his wife from waking up the entire house.
"Tum na, kabhi nahi badal sakti!" she pointed her index finger at him.
He playfully used his index finger and held onto hers firmly, egging her to come closer.
"Nahi, tum jao aur so jao!"
"Acha theek hai I'm sorry, ab mere paas ao" he said extending his arms and making a puppy dog face.
"Hmm fine" she moved closer and rested her head on his chest as his left arm moved around her to caress the small of her back.
"How come you woke up?" he said as he took her hand in his.
"Don't know, I went to get water then I ended up here. It's so peaceful. And you? You still can't sleep without me, can't you?" she asked moving her head up to look at him.
He sighed, " That's your fault, I'm too accustomed to sleeping with you"
"I'm sorry I made you get up. You were so tired today"
"It's okay, I got to throw water on Paanika again so it's cool" he grinned.
"very funny" she mutter rolling her eyes.
"Yeh chodo, tell me na, you were thinking about last Karva Chauth?"
"Mhmm" She recalled her previous thoughts.
"I remember too"
"Life is so weird right? I mean last year unknowingly you broke my fast, and then this year, well earlier tonight, you did it knowingly. Who would've thought?" she was amazed at the turn of events that brought them to this point in their lives even now.
"I wish we had known sooner" he said with a sad smile.
"That's all your fault, Mr Naam Khoon Khandan Izzat"
"Oh please, if that night you really told me about your feelings, which I thought you were going to do, then right then and there things could have changed"
"Oh hello! If you weren't hell-bent on marrying that cheapde then things could have been different. Different meri chapal"
At this he chuckled. Annika looked up at him to admire his smiling face. She was getting accustomed to this Shivaay. The Shivaay who openly laughed with her, argued with her, teased her, bickered like no tomorrow with her, but openly loved her. Within one year, so much had changed.
"It's funny isn't it? I mean, the one I thought was perfect for me was an absolute nightmare" he shuddered at the thought.
"And the one you thought was your worst nightmare actually turned out to be perfect for you?"
"Well, I didn't think you were my worst nightmare"
"Oh you could've fooled me. Everytime you saw me you acted as if you were feeling so.. so.. michmichi!"
"You were more like a dream I didn't even know I wanted to see"
She was a little speechless at that statement, even now his words got her shy and stunned sometimes. When she didn't respond, he went on.
"You know every time Om and Rudra saw us together, they'd tease me afterwards. They'd tell me that I... that my heart wants something but my mind isn't allowing it. They scolded me whenever I scolded you. They always said that my heart was calling out to you. They really are your fans" he muttered his last line irritated, earning a small chuckle from her.
"But they were damn right" He continued. "Everytime they teased me, I ignored it or scolded them but they were right. It was so frustrating. I'm Shivaay Singh Oberoi, I have control over everything in my life. And then suddenly you came, and everything just spun out of control. What was I supposed to do?" he asked genuinely, mirroring his confusion back then.
"You were supposed to give in par nahin, tum to sirf taadi marna pata hain"
"Oh please, as if you were any different. You too didn't want to have anything to do with me"
"You're right...except that day.." She agreed at first but then she recalled that feeling, she didn't know what it was back then, but now she knew what it was. The feeling as if her heart was broken into shards of glass, sharp and jagged, a slap in the face.
"That day?"
"When you proposed Tia.." she said raising her eyebrow and detaching herself from him.
"When you did that, I just, I don't know. It hit hard because I realized how much I took what you said the day before to heart when you were on those painkillers."
He sighed and touched her shoulder.
"I was an idiot"
"Pretty much"
"And now?"
"Now, you're still an idiot, but you're my kanji aankhon wala idiot" she grinned.
"Annikaa.." he groaned.
"My kanji aankon wala idiot whom I love so very much!" she leaned forward and brushed their noses together.
"That's more like it" he said as he flashed her a smile.
"Let's go back inside?" she asked standing up and holding out her hand, focusing her eyes on him and raising one eyebrow with her lips slightly parted, clearly implying a long night ahead.
"I thought ki tum bahut shareef ladki thi, Why are you looking at me with that luchi 2 RS look?" he teased
"Chup"
He laughed as he took her hand to get up but before he knew it he was pushed further into the pool, falling back and wetting almost his full kurta.
"FHAT THE WUCK!" he shouted as he looked at his wife laughed her head off.
"Annika tum!" he pointed a finger.
But she continued laughing and laughing and laughing.
"Okay fine enough fun" he said angrily, stepping out of the pool and pulled her flush against him.
"Shivaay.." she stuttered as she was pressed up against him and saw the anger in his eyes dancing with mischief.
"Mrs Annika Shivaay Singh Oberoi," he said in a low voice as he closed in on her lips and she closed her eyes confused in his change of mood. She moved a little closer, waiting for him to close the distance.
"Same to you, back to you, no return" he whispered against her lips and the next thing she knew she was flung into the pool.
"SHIVAAYY" she shouted.
"Youll pay for this you kanji aankhon wala bhagad billa! Akdu Batameeez Taadibaaaz Shaitan!!!!!!!!!" she spit out curses as she came above the water and saw him grinning, as he looked at her, standing in the pool as well.
Her night suit was so drenched it hugged her curves in all the right places. Even if Shivaay wanted to be angry on Annika for vomiting a variety of curses at him, he couldn't as he was too lost in looking at her. She was his. She was actually his. Boy was he lucky.
She was still flinging her hands in the air gesturing about all the ways she would get back at him when she realized he was standing in front of her and she nearly hit his eye. He had held her hand that was now launching towards him in mid-air and Shivaay couldn't help but once again, as he had done oh so many times, drown into her eyes, her dark never-ending orbs of brown beauty. Annika looked him in the eye and she knew Shivaay was now in a mood to forget everything else.
"Stop it Shivaay! I'm being serious and you're staring at me like a love-struck teenager" she muttered, trying to get her hand out of his grip.
"It's all your fault you know, you started it, all of this" he said, and she blushed slightly because she realized from the look in his eyes, he wasn't just referring to this water fight, but then she pouted and became serious again remembering what he had just done.
"If I hadn't started it then this would've never happened, now would it?"
"What?" he looked at her puzzled and his grip loosened a little.
"Hmm think only you can give double meanings Mr SSO?" she said as removed her hand from his and draped both her arms around his neck. He followed and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Waise bhi, tum to sirf uss KK ki baare.." she was cut off
"KK?"
"Kutti Kamini DUH"
"Right Right, sorry I forgot. You and your language" he sighed.
"But yea, if it wasn't for me, you would've never broken out of Tia's clasps and realized who she really was. And only then, you would have realized that NKK isn't all there is in life, and then you would have spared me a second glance, right? So this is alll happening because of me !"
"If you just wanted me to check you out you should have said so"
"Cheapde!!! That's all you heard? I just said so much and ugh!"
"Shhh You're right. Im glad you turned out to be right. NKK really isn't worth a thing when compared to honesty, love , humility... If it wasn't for you.. I would be that same old Shivaay, probably married that CHEAPDE Tia..."
"Arrey, give us some credit too na Bhaiya!" A voice startled them and they looked to see Rudra, Soumya Om and Gauri grinning at them.
"App sab.. yahan?" Shivaay said, not removing his hands from Annika's waist.
"Tum dono.. yahan?" Om teased, his eyes moving from Annika's arms around Shivaay's neck to Shivaay's on her waist.
Immediately they broke apart, slightly flushed but then everyone broke into fits of laughter. Shivika were accustomed to RumYa and OmRi bursting in on them doing romance, as they both were also accustomed to seeing the others romance their spouses too.
"Okay fine we won't tease you guys anymore. Go ahead, romance kar lo but you guys should get changed before you fall ill" Gauri said, sticking her tongue out.
"Haan bhaiya, we all know how much you loveee getting sick" Soumya laughed.
"But it's okay na, have no fear Annika bhabhi is there !" Rudra winked
"Rudra!" Shivaay chided
"Ay itna taadi mat maaro" Rudra imitated Annika
"You guys stop harassing my husband please, You know how touchy Bhagad Billa is"
"Tum! Whose side are you on" he scolded.
"Achaa theek hain theek hai. Okay guys you had enough fun, we should get to bed" Annika said.
"Ofc Bhabhi" They all chimed in, stifling their giggles and winking, "you guys should get to bed"
"CHEAPDE!" she shouted and together both Shivaay and Annika began splashing water at them.
"Areey bhaaag!" Rudra shouted as they all ran away to their rooms.
Both Annika and Shivaay broke into splits of laughter.
"Dekho na, pehle we used to throw water on each other, now together we're throwing water on everyone else" she laughed at the irony.
"We make a good team" he winked.
"Yep we do"
"Chalo?" he said, still a little embarrassed.
"Hmm?"
"You heard what they said, let's go inside" he said and turned to leave.
"Wait..." she held his hand and made him turn to her.
"Kyun? You'll get sick. Remember last time you got sick and we didn't even stay this long in the pool"
"Then at least this time you won't have to lift me and carry me to your bed again"
"You knew?" he was shocked.
"I realized after, that I'm not silly enough to dream about being in your arms, so any feeling like that meant it would've actually had to happen" she blushed.
"Tum toh bahut chui mui lajwanti ki type" he teased
"But okay really lets go now" he continued.
"Please don't spoil the moment! Look at how the wind is blowing Shivaay" she said excitedly, as she gestured for him to come to her.
"When you get sick, don't blame me" he warned as he slid his arms around her waist and pulled her against him.
"This is nice" she said dreamily. "You know you'd think I'd enjoy big moments even more, like our remarriage, or when you first confessed your love for me, or our first date or something of those sorts but somehow, I just love moments like these the most."
"Really?"
"Yep. Maybe it's just middle class mentality. But really. I never ever thought I could be this happy, with someone like you, the great SSO, and be lucky enough to have small moments like these"
"The great SSO isn't half as great without Mrs SSO" he smiled and pulled her closer seeing her slightly shivering.
She moved a hand to caress his face. "Thank you for moments like these Shivaay"
"Moments like these? Exactly what does that mean?"
"Hum dono saath hain. We're alone" she winked and then continued on a more serious note after sighing away her playfulness.
"It's nice to be with you like this, after a year of so much drama and bickering. Just to stand here with you, simply. No grand celebrations or nafratbaaz or anything. Just us both, the wind."
Her eyes seemed to venture somewhere far away and she looked as if she were staring into the future. " It's the most relaxing and peaceful moment right now" She caressed his hair with the other hand as she said her last few words, bringing her attention back to him.
"I know what you mean."
"You do?" she asked, genuinely wanting to know how he felt.
"There's no high class or middle class moments in love Annika, these moments stand on their own. If someone asked me a year ago, if I would fall in love, I would have laughed straight in their face and then punched them"
She bit back her laughter.
"And then if someone said that I would be in love with someone like you and I'd be angry after you got engaged to someone else despite me already being engaged and to marry someone else too, I'd have probably sent them to a mental asylum after a few slaps"
"Shiv.." she nudged him, shaking her head.
"Seriously! But now, in this moment, with you in my arms, I have no qualms about what happened in the last year and a half. I know I'm in love with you, and if someone tells me this, I won't become SSO. I would smile because it's the truth and I'm very much proud of this truth"
Her cheeks became rosy and she tilted her head downwards, shying away from his loving words.
" Is that so?"
"Mhmm" he said as she tiptoed to kiss his cheek and as she flattened her feet onto the floor of the pool again, he bent down to nuzzle their noses for a second.
He then kissed her forehead, his lips lingering for more than a few seconds, making her senses go berserk and she felt like she was floating.
And she lowered her eyes shyly, afraid of losing them in his huge, dark, orbs, which were now piercing through her. She felt his finger trace gently on her chin and shut her eyes instantly as she shivered under his delicate touch. One touch was enough to set her senses ablaze. He trailed his fingertips lazily across her face, outlining her cheek bones. He rested his palm on her rosy cheeks which he'd always been too fond of and, as if it were a reflex action, she leaned into his touch with no resistance, craving more of his skin on hers.
He smirked at the crimson shade suddenly making its way onto her face and started inching closer toward her. Her heaving chest rose and fell violently and she reached for him, groping for his kurta, something to hold onto, something to keep her from falling. He was barely a whisper away from her and the proximity was so overwhelming she felt faint. The corner of his lips twitched up and had her eyes been open, she'd have known he was about to do something absolutely and annoyingly wicked. He kept leaning in, and anticipation built up in her chest to such an enormous extent that her fear of exhaling almost surpassed her impatience.
Her pores raised as she felt his breath on her skin, fanning her, and she quivered. Their lips nearly brushed and she furrowed her eyebrows in annoyance, frustrated as to why he wouldn't close the tortuous distance. Her sanity was dwindling and before she knew it, she was tilting her head upward to meet his perfectly shaped lips. After a second of contact, which felt like she had all the relief in the world, she felt him move away and his hoarse laughter made her eyes open and she looked at him, completely astounded and outraged.
"Think it's funny?" she snapped, shooting him a fatal stare. If only looks could kill.
Her flushed face oozed irritation and her red cheeks were now outdone by her nose, as her lips formed a deadly pout that, even he had to admit was extraordinarily adorable.
He couldn't stifle his laughter and burst out again. He'd always sounded as if he were wheezing while laughing and were about to have an asthma attack, and he sounded the same now as his body racked with laughter. Even while she was infuriated, she had to fight back a grin. Reminding herself of his devious activities, she was about to begin to stomp off back into their room, her tiny feet threatening to return the flooring of the pool to the Earth below. Sensing her withdrawal and that maybe he went a bit too far, he whipped his arm out and clasped his hand around her wrist. Using his other hand, he held her neck dangerously and grabbed her with full force, pressing her body to his, ensuring not a millimeter of space was left between them.
Breaths tangled, eyes shut, she took a mere second to inhale his scent-he smelt of soap and grass and honey- before launching forward to capture his lips. She grabbed his hair wildly, as her kisses became hostile while he dug his fingers into her where he held her at her waist. She nipped his bottom lip, and he pulled her even closer, if that were possible, and held her tighter, as if he were trying to mould their bodies into one. She allowed him access and he slid his tongue in eagerly, ready to devour her. Before their battle of dominance could ensue, she pulled away, gasping for air, one hand on his chest, gripping his kurta and the other around his neck. He dove down in a swift but graceful movement to plant kisses on her cheeks, down her neck, all the way to the base of her throat causing her to take a sharp intake of air. He dropped wet kisses across her collar bone and within seconds she pulled him up, meeting his lips with hers.
This time, the kiss was deepening, but slowly. The heat of the moment had done its job but now they kissed slowly, long and languorously. She felt him smile against her lips and he pecked her lightly, removing a hand from her waist, to return a lock of hair behind her ear.
As her breathing steadied, she leaned up to brush her lips against his chin, and looking up to him lazily, she whispered, "I love you".
"Who doesn't?" he shot back, cockily and did his signature hair move.
She shoved at his shoulder lightly and scrunched up her nose, trying to escape his arms but he only drew her closer.
He then held her face and pressed his lips to her forehead.
"I'm not letting you go anywhere," he said in a husky voice, "and I love you too."
He dipped his head to kiss her cheek and then his arms snaked around her again, sealing her into his circle of love as her held her tightly and carried her to their room.
