Why does Shivaay choose?

I'm sorry maybe it's the feminist in me rearing its over-zealous head but after seeing so many discussions and posts and spoilers about who Shivaay is going to choose, my heart is bubbling out its rage...

Why is it up to him to choose? Why does he get to be the master and the player of the game? Why does he get to have all the fun? Why does he get to have the cake and eat it too??!!! Ok I feel like a petulant child but I just don't understand why it's up to him...

Why can't Anika for once just not play along? Why can't she just walk away? Why can't she just take Sahil with her back to a friend's house and spend her Lori there or go back to her home locality and celebrate it there? I think she needs to show Shivaay clearly that she has her own people and that she CAN survive without them. THAT is progressive thinking. When a woman decides her own fate and does not wait on hand and foot for a man who doesn't even have the guts to accept her as his wife?

And even if they apply the "ghunght ke niche koi aur" blunder AGAIN, this is still hiding. THIS IS STILL FAKE! Anika is not a dirty secret that needs to be shoved under a carpet. She is his legally wedded wife and she is also a self-respecting woman. And if they can't respect her for who she is, then she does not need them. Her character itself is worth diamonds and it does not require the Oberio stamp for approval.

I just wish they would show Anika finally taking back the reigns to her life in the name of this NAYI SOCH.. I wish...
