Hi guys, this update brings us into angsty territory. Jealous Singh Oberoi has always an angry beasty one in my mind, throwback to those days when Daksh had first appeared, and messed with them.
I have written well ahead, so next update will be 5 pages away/Saturday whichever comes first. 😆 Sorry this took longer than usual, I wanted to keep the plot in my control for changes until I reached a crucial part. Hope you guys enjoy it , a LOT of thought went into this.
Thanks to my lovely readers for checking up on this story of mine.
❤️Anisa.

Part 5
Shivaay sat in his office with the file his private investigator just handed to him. Mood black as night, he flipped through the dossier, with the name ROHIT KUMAR on the cover.
Nothing impressive. Small time business owner. One Supermarket. Shivaay scowled with distaste. What does Annika see in him? WHO THE HECK IS HE ANYWAY? And he was REAL?! I thought he was an imaginary friend she'd made up to pull his leg. Now, there's a man , in the flesh, joking around with Annika.
His Annika.
And he wanted to beat the man into pulp.
Only son of grocer parents, a sister Aarti who got married last year. Very uninteresting family and life. The only information of interest was that there was an application for a registered marriage under his name ,the other name being Annika's, dated years ago. But the application hadn't been completed.
She almost married this guy.
Who the hell is he?
Why don't I know anything about him?
A burning pain rose in his stomach, one his tablets couldn't resolve. A paperweight on his table became the victim as he threw in onto the wall adjacent. This rage he felt, he hated it, it robbed him of control. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, and he heard a beep from his phone.
[Hi Shivaay. Have you reached safely? Do let me know. ]
So, you had time, to remember I was arriving today then, Annika?
He deleted the message viciously, wanting to punish her for this unrest he was drowning in.
Let her stew for a bit.
One day became two and then three, and he was still ignoring her messages and calls. He was in the blackest of moods his family had ever seen him in. Servants ducked and disappeared in his presence, everyone gave him and his temper loads of space.

Annika hung up the phone after speaking to Khanna ji. Apparently Shivaay came back 3 days ago, as scheduled, and didn't bother to speak to her. She racked her brains , going over their last conversation and messages, wondering if she had done something to upset him. Even in the heights of overthinking, she still couldn't figure out why he would behave like this.
Her gut feeling is telling her , he is angry. Angry. Her every pore is pricking nervously like a sixth sense.
Shaking her head, she shuddered. Stop assuming the worst, Annika.
Maybe he was busy? Well, he's ALWAYS busy. He always found time.
Maybe he's stressed? Well, he could tell me, then I could help him sort it out.
Maybe he's not well? But Khanna ji said he's fine...
Did I do something...? I messaged him, everyday , so many times. I missed him all day long, every day.
Shut up Annika! This is exactly what you wanted, time apart, to see if things would go south. If Shivaay was having second thoughts about you , and wanted to end things, this is it. Face it. This was what the one month time apart was meant for. To think, rethink, prioritize. Give each other the time to decide if this relationship is for keeps.
But her stubborn heart wanted to know. Her heart never listened to her brain. Her heart told her Shivaay was now a gentle, sweet man to her, and she was so sure she saw love in his eyes, for her. She didn't want to trust this feeling, but she wanted to believe in that trust his words gave her.
This man, this proud, arrogant tadibaaz man Shivaay Singh Oberoi, said He Loved Her. And he was a man of his word. She has studied him for months, he is strong, principled, and doesn't go back on his word. He taught her the meaning of trusting someone with your life. He saved her life, as she had saved his. That bond has to be stronger than anything she has ever experienced in life.
Is this what Mallika said about Love? Should I take this plunge and see where I land?
I don't know. AlI know is, it's worth not keeping quiet. It's worth asking about. He will tell me to my face if he changed his mind about me.

She trusted Shivaay, so she went to him. Bright and early the next morning she went to his offices at Oberoi Group of Companies. It was a huge place , like a whole different world, a world he and his family lived in and breathed. She sat at the sofas by the receptionist and watched the people arrive for work, all those people at Shivaay's beck and call. They look educated and smart with families of their own, droves of them walk at different speeds to their stations. 10 floors of all these people.
The heavily painted receptionist coldly told her, no one gets to see Mr. Shivaay Oberoi without an appointment. Annika asked her to try anyway, and was asked to be prepared for a long wait. So, she waited. After an hour, people started nervously gathering at the foyer, even people in fancy suits, waiting for someone.
Then he walked in, looking sharp and suave. People flooded around him, some wanting to talk, some reporting their work, some hangers on, some of them his aides. This Shivaay, she has never seen, the important man, the busy man, the man who makes things work, the one whose big decisions affect many.
He walked purposefully to the escalators, his offices in the mezzanine floor, overlooking the entire foyer at a vantage point. She went to the receptionist and asked again, feeling a little impatient, now that she's seen him. With an irritated eye roll, the painted lady rang Shivaay's P.A., "A woman is here to see Mr. Shivaay Oberoi. No, she hasn't an appointment..."
"I know, Shivaay sir has a busy day, but..."
"I understand. I will inform her... OK , I'll take down her details."
She hung up the phone, and looked boredly at Annika. "He's busy today, appointments are back to back, and Mr. Mishra says there's no chance to sneak you in. Sorry.."
Annika sat anyway, thinking she could go in between his meetings. But 3 hours later she had gotten nowhere. And he still wasn't answering her calls or messages. So, she asked if she could meet with Mr. Mishra. As soon as he heard her name, the man himself came running like a petrified rabbit.
" Madam? I'm so sorry..!! I can't believe we kept you waiting here! Please come.." and personally escorted Annika up. He glared at the receptionist angrily, giving her the You-are-so-dead sign.
"She's his wife you idiot !!" he whispered back, to the woman's horror. Annika was taken up to Shivaay's offices like a VIP, however he was still in an important foreign delegates' teleconference meeting.
Almost 2 hours later, Shivaay walked into his quiet office, massaging the bridge of his nose tiredly. Immediately he sensed her presence and turned to find her seated awkwardly by his couch. She was a sight for sore eyes, he forgot how much he missed her, his brain immediately stopped its racing.
She stood up silently and walked to him slowly, a hesitant smile breaking on her face. Suddenly he remembered missing her so much, dying to see her, practically running to her house to find her playing coochicoo with some other guy, Rohit whatever. Immediately , he stiffened and strode to his table to sit.
"Hello, Annika..." he said quietly.
Annika's smile vanished, to his cold greeting. She stood with the vast table in between them, wondering what in the world was wrong. Her eyes watched him , wide eyed. And he avoided hers altogether.
"How are you Shivaay?" she spoke softly. "You look tired..."
"Busy. It's been very busy for me, I had multiple crisis' to handle since I've been back and .." he waved his hands in a defeated stance. She instantly felt sorry for him. Bravely she stepped around the big table and stood by his chair.
"Why didn't you call me? "
He hesitated before replying quietly, "You wanted space. I'm giving you space."
"You didn't want to at all 3 weeks ago..."
"WHY DON'T YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND, ANNIKA? " he slammed his hands on the table as she flinched at the savage loudness in his voice.
"What do you want from me? First you wanted space, and now you ask why I gave you space. You were adamant to leave me, and then now you call me non-stop badgering me at all times. If I am busy then you ignore me for days. You don't get to toy with me, alright? I AM SHIVAAY SINGH OBEROI. You do not toy with me. I WILL BREAK YOU and YOUR VERY EXISTENCE, if you mess with me. Do NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE and toy with me, Annika!!! You DO NOT get that power over me !!"
She went to him in a rush, seeing his uncontrollable anger. She touched his arm, and he flung it away, putting a distance between them.
"What is it Shivaay? Why are you so angry? Tell me, what did I do? Let me explain myself, it's the least you could do..."
I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!?!? Just go, Annika. This is my place of work, you do not get to come and make a scene here, ok. LEAVE!"
"Shivaay , please..."
Annika insisted to stay and get to the bottom of his anger. He is extremely angry at her about something, and she hated to walk away from it, especially since she didn't do anything. She learned from him, that they should talk about problems, not hide from them.
"What is it Shivaay? Just spit it out !"
"I want space. From you. That'd be good for me right now."
Annika flinched as he threw her words back in her face, in a cruel manner. He was too angry for talking. Continuously forcing him to face it will just make things uglier. Hating the distance, she let her hands fall, and stepped back.
"No. I won't leave until you tell me what's wrong ! " Annika insisted.
They were interrupted by the arrival of Pinky Oberoi.
"Oh MY MAATA! Now she's creating troubles here also?? Eh hello? We removed you from our house, now you're coming here and disturbing my son's life ha? Are you a roach or something, just refusing to go away?"
"Mom.. Please just stop! You're making this a bigger scene. Please just let me handle this." Shivaay put out his hand to calm his mother.
"NO Shivaay! This is the typical downmarket girls' behaviour. Once they have the scent of money, they will never let you go. Stuck like used chewing gum under your shoe! "
Shivaay cringed at his mother's words, as Annika's pale face darted from mother to son, as though weighing her chances.
"SECURITY!!!" Pinky thundered.. "REMOVE this woman from our building NOW !!"
Annika was shocked , as his security goons came and stood around her , each looking confused. But Annika had angry tears glaring in her eyes, the cruelty making her back away a safe distance from him. Throwing hands off from touching her, she met him with silence.
So this is how it's going to be.
Shivaay watched her turn and leave, wiping her continuous tears as she almost ran out of his building. A part of him wanted to go after her, but the other part was determined to make her pay for hurting him. This woman dared to mess with his feelings, played with his heart.
No one has that power. No one.
