I know, right? Like yes, I know they want TRP, but man they really need to do something about repetitive tracks.

To destroy the same person's life? ACP's train of thoughts make sense, in a twisted way. But I just find it hard to accept because I had built a very different version of PriVeer love in my head. And this doesn't even come close. Oh wells.

The way they go about making a serial is like the way we bake a cake. Everything has to be in proportion to the formula and voila! you have a successful tv show.

I recently read an article on India soap opera writing, and maaan, that article forced my eyes wide open 😆 All the good stuff began dying 2000 onward, apparently. A very good read on how Indian soaps have changed over the years.

All I can say is, IB started of with a very, very good promise, but is now failing (or failed) raita thanks to these trends. More or less. I still think IB stands a little different from the other shows, though. A little.

I know Anu.. that's the logic they are putting forth. But imagine yourself in ACP's shoes. I mean, ok, you want to punish that person, but you are doing so by marrying that person.. which means you will be living with the person you hate the most in the whole world. So imagine yourself married to Donald Trump just as an example. Even if you wanted to punish Trump, would you do it by marrying him? That is what I am saying. I mean, I'd rather play horrible mindgames and try to drive that person mad and ruin that person's life. But not marry her!! I feel a certain ickiness when it comes to the concept of sharing space with a person you hate.

Hey could you pm me the link.. I'd like to read that. 😳

I laughed so much when I heard that Nakuul thought this show would turn out to be a modern day Swabhimaan-- which was like a corporate thriller... the power politics within a business family.. a 90s show, I think.

Anu, as I told you once, the somewhat experimental stuff in the field of entertainment in India at the moment is happening on the web. Even though, now the big production houses have realised the potential market awaiting them online and are trying to capture it.. still we have groups like TVF, AIB or EIC who are trying to do something different and play around with the generic formulae used by the entertainment industry here. And the fact that these groups have found such success shows that there is a market for this kind of material. But it will take another 10 years or more to get this kind of stuff to be shown on the telly and even then it would be a watered down version and will be robbed of much of the edginess.

Hmm...when you put it that way, it does make sense. But I guess for the sake of tv storytelling, they want them to get married. How much of mind games can you play with the both of them far apart? Especially when they are just side characters and not the main ones?

Plus, what can go wrong with the plot where husband tortures wife...and then falls in love with her. What a brand new concept. 👏😳

@Bold: Aw, Naks. -pats his head- Let's hope this at least heads in that direction. Because I'd love to see an actual power politics within a business family with the Oberois. Like, full on power politics.

And sure, PMing the link now :)

😆

Absolutely. I know.. you have to get them married. But it could be arranged differently. If you are a writer, you can devise a thousand different ways that would bring them to a point when they are forced to marry each other and then see how it plays out. Suppose, due to some public scandal, the Oberois force Priyanka to get married to Ranveer.. then that would leave him ready to take out all his anger on her-- both for the forced marriage as well as the harm she has caused him and his sister.

Just saying...

Not that we have any say on the material being shoved down our collective throats.
