The episode this post pertains to is the one which aired on 31st October. To me, it seemed like a pivotal scene which will mark their future dynamic and the evolution of their relationship.
Shivaay telling Anika in an attempt to assuage his guilt about not pursuing whatever has sprung b/w him and her- "Agar mein kuch kar sakta hoon- I just want to help."
He then goes on a lengthy rambling speech about how he can help in this city and another city/state too...and when she asks whether he wants her to leave, out comes his anxious reply like a gunshot - No. (😉😆)
His gentle enquiry about her dreams, in a bid to know her better: "kuch toh sapna hoga", and then speculating about what it could be, restaurant or catering business...shaadi (😕😉😆)- Man, hearing him speak this way, I was like- this is the same guy who says, mujhe koi farak nahi padta. YA RIGHT!!! 😆
He even compliments her, calling her intelligent (HAILA!), and asks her to focus on her dreams alone, and not get distracted by anyone else. Gotta say, the man is so full of himself, he has pretty much ascertained that she is madly in love with him.😆
What struck me in particular about this scene, was how gentle and considerate he was- he has been this way recently, but there was this newfound softness, almost a childlike need to placate and protect her that was evident in this scene. He has perhaps gleaned that this is his heart's desire, and he is not at liberty to pursue it- so he does what he usually does- be the Great Wall of Shivaay. Contrary to what most friends on the forum felt about this scene- I didn't feel as if he was patronizing her or giving her a consolation price by offering to help her- I saw it as his last, desperate attempt to reach out to her and make sense of an agonizing situation.
The thing with Shivaay is that- whenever he cares for a person, he doesn't demonstrate it with words. He doesn't make grand gestures, nor does he say eloquent shayaris like Om or display a playful and flamboyant side like Rudra. He cares by doing things for his loved ones. His affection and love is a quiet, more unassuming sort. He does things for his loved ones and expects no reciprocity-he just wants them to accept him and let him do things for them. His family, especially his brothers and sister, are kept protected from all the evils that befall them- and he wrings himself dry to ensure their well-being and happiness. It is ironic in a way- a businessman who believes in give and take and ruthless takedowns is a big softie in his personal life who doesn't believe in mutual exchanges or acknowledgements of affection.
This scene showed how Anika has been included in that exclusive and very small circle- namely, The List of People SSO will protect and kill/die for.😳😃 That he should offer to do this for a chit of a girl, a nobody- shows how far they have come, how far he has come.
His eagerness for his offer to be accepted is shot down, however. Fiery, independent Anika will have none of it. Her almost sarcastic reply : "Aap kya sochke aaye thhe, aaj aap meri zindagi banayenge?" leaves him crestfallen.
Then Anika drops another bomb- "Mujhe bina sahare ke chalne ki aadat hai, aur mein ye aadat chodna nahi chahti." His face falls visibly- because his offer to help and support has been rejected. In a way- he has been rejected. His look of yearning after her as she walks away says it all😭
I am thinking that in the future, when they get together, this is precisely what will cause conflicts b/w them- Shivaay's innate and almost obsessive need to protect and care for his loved ones, versus Anika's need to do things on her own, to make mistakes and learn from them, to be independent and self-sufficient. Both of them are strong personalities, so conflicts stemming from this are inevitable I guess. It will be a treat to see how they deal with it together and evolve as individuals and as a couple too. Shivaay will learn that sometimes you have to let your loved ones make their mistakes and learn from it, to give them space, and Anika will learn to be loved and to let her partner care for her.
Needless to say, I found this scene to be extremely poignant and touching. The feels were just off the charts Mera sab kuch yaheen hai, said Anika - and I was like, DAYUM GIRL, YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!😉 Easily the best scene of the week for me. The writing was excellent, and the scene was brilliantly enacted by Nakuul and Surbhi!
Been thinking of this for a while. Have been inactive on the forum so don't know if a post has been made on this...So kindly bear with me😳
