ACP placed the painting in the hope of finding Gayathri's murderer and may not have any clue about the past.
If at all the spoiler is true (which I think is not), Shivaay must have misunderstood that Om killed Gayathri and before Om could clarify surrendered himself to the police. But he seems preoccupied with Anika at the moment for anything of that sorts to happen

@Bold that is exactly what I was thinking. Before Om confesses he's killed or thinks he's killed a girl in the past, Shivaay will misunderstand him and go to jail after confessing he's killed Gayatri to save Om. But this Om-Priyanka mystery is yet to be solved..
