I have a feeling that this has no connection with Gayatri's murder.. most likely it's related to Om's past..

Even I was wondering that it could be Roop. She could have faked her being out of the country in some way or maybe she was out of the country but might have had someone work for.

Om and Priyanka might have by mistakenly got involved in the crime scene or something but might not have had an actual hand in the murder. Maybe this murder was purposely framed on them to malign the Oberois. Roop did try something of the sort before by trying to put the blame of smuggling on Om.
