I know that there's been multiple posts about this one line, but I couldn't resist.
"When we go out, I pay."
The emotions that this line brings forward astounds me. It's so subtle, but this one line can single-handedly portray how Shivaay feels towards Annika.
Maybe I'm thinking about it too much, but the first thing that I thought of when he said this, is that, this was their second indirect date (first being the poolside one). And I loved the idea! The fact that he decided to pay for her like she's his girlfriend, and that instead of being on a steadfast mission to help the family, they're actually on a date I also love that him and her, have now become a we.
I know that some people can see sexist connotations in his actions, but I just don't see it that way.
If there is one thing that the CV's have dedicated their being into expressing, it would have to be the equality between Shivaay and Annika.
Instead, I think that this is just an innocent gesture that Shivaay doesn't read into when he does it. Rather, I think that there's an underlying need on his part to protect her. Indeed, I think that if nothing else, Shivaay and Annika's current portrayal shows a lot of care and compassion on both parties' part. He doesn't meant to do it, but unbeknownst to his conscious thoughts, he tells her to take care, or to be careful.
On Annika's part, we can see that she is always going out of her way to help him, which she puts off to helping the whole family, yet as Sahil says, she's only ever talking about SSO.
Coming onto the underwear joke, as immature as I did think it was, I thought it was hilarious. They're both so cute! Shivaay's reaction reminded me of their poolside date, where he thinks that she wants to marry him. While some people don't find it realistic, I think that Shivaay often stops thinking logically around her, and rather, goes into his What If? mode.
What if this was a date? What if she did want to marry him? What if she did want to buy him underwear? (it kind of has sexual vibes for me?) What if that was their dias that she was decorating, for him and her to sit on and get married? What if?
Kudos to the CV's for giving us such a good episode yesterday on the ShivIka front.
