Being good/bad is a choice or due to upbringing?

So Om holds both the factors - choice and upbringing - as responsible while lashing out at Ishana. Is he completely right? Well, in Ishaana's case may be both these factors seem to be right but is it the truth?
In my opinion a person is bad/good is due to his choices and not due to upbringing. Ishana's choice and upbringing both might have made her a conwoman or may be its just the choice. Upbringing may not have affected her in anyways, it's just her choice.
I totally believe in choices being the reason for what we are, at every turn of life we get choices to pick and what we chose shapes us. Upbringing does have an influence but to imply that upbringing in our life is also a choice. That's why there exist rigtheous parents having evil children and evil one's having righteous children in the society.
Let's consider the upbringing of fictional characters of this show itself;
Shivaay - keeping aside Pinky and Shakti if we consider his daadi as upbringing him and implanting values then he is still diffrent from her in many ways, she has thought him not to judge people by their status but yet he does it, because it's his choice.
Omkara - Tej's son, always surrounded by Shivaay yet he has diffrent traits, views than them. Well, we can say he is like his mother then too it's his choice that makes him to be like his mother and not like his father.
Anika - no upbringing, an orphan yet has righteousness because it's her choice.
Tej & Roop - Kalyani daadi and her husband are both righteous people going by daadi's actions and her description of daadaji but the children are far from righteousness, is it the upbringing? It's the choices they made once they grew up.

Upbringing may or may not be the reason to shape ones persona but choice definetly is. Ishana has just made a choice out of so many options out there, just like Shivay chose to throw water to bring Anika back to senses out of so many other options 😆

Y u r making simple question complicated😆
Just ask youself?
Can you con or cheat any1?
Well i cant becoz my parents tought me to be a good human being.i will die of shame and guilt if i will betray someone trust who trust me blindly.becoz this is my feeling and choice too.
Good upbringing guide someone the right path and its up to individual to make choice between good and bad.bad upbringing may misguide or force some1 on wrong path but at certain age one has enough intelligence to decide or there r good ppl who may make one realize his or her faults.
Or he or she may enough sensitive to realise that hurting others will bring pain to him so one should lead a righteous life.
So both upbringing and choice shape one life.
For example om does not want to be like his father so he made choice of being truthful and honest.
Ishana supported her father so she inherented his lies and dishonesty.

Of course it's a choice. Influenced by your upbringing.

I haven't watched the latest episodes yet, but from what I gathered from a promo, Ishaana told him something very interesting as well: It's easier to hurl accusations and blame people when you have the luxury to do it. That's unanimously true as well.
I know it's a show, but if good upbringing helped make all the right choices, then Om should never have taken up drugs. It's always a choice, but it's just easier to preach about it when you have the luxury to do it. If I'm not mistaken, Anika did say something similar to Shivaay as well a couple of episodes ago. People who work aren't arrogant, they're just proud of who they are. Anika was right then as well. When you have the means, it's way easier to judge people who don't. And that's just a fact.

Besides, family is a soft spot for anyone. I doubt she minded anything he said about her. She probably had the outburst because he targeted her family. So she targeted his. Immature, but a normal reaction for any emotional person.

Firstly good or bad itself is soo subjective .Who decides who is good or bad?Its all individual opinion there is nothing universal. So choice and upbringing comes much later.

Is robin hood good or bad in your opinion(as per myth he used to steal from rich and give to poor)..

what a person does in what circumstances depends on a lot of other things than choice and upbringing. And how a third person views the same also depends on several things

Nothing i so black and white in real life that one can put it in category of good or bad

You are saying the same thing I said, just changing the words 😆
You too say that it's left to an individual to make choice between good and bad, what diffrent did I say? 😆 Probably you didn't read what I wrote.

Upbringing matters but what we take from it is what shapes our decision. All the three brothers have the same environment yet what they took from what they were taught shows their choice. I totally agree on Om with his belief about Ishaana. His father cheated on his mother, so he decided never to lie. But this shows his mother's influence on him or his Dadi's who taught him the difference between right & wrong. Ishaana's father never taught her to differentiate between right & wrong, or rather if you know what is right & wrong, to choose the right thing no matter how difficult it is. So upbringing does matter. It sets you in the right direction but after dat what you do depends on your choice. For this I would say, Om was a drug addict. He surely knew drugs are bad. But he chose them anyway. About Anika, her upbringing was good no matter what. In such a bad world, a man adopted her. I think that was d best influence Sahil's father had on her. And that shows in her actions too. She takes dat goodness everywhere.
