Some believe in being physical before marriage and some after. Its just a choice.
Shivaay may or may not have physical relationship before meeting Annika but that wont change his love for her.

Both were right to some extent but what struck me the most when Om said "Shivaay par abhi tak koyi joot ka ilzham nahi laga"

That's a major foreshadowing
