So, I've read one too many Svetlana appreciation posts, regaling her notorious feats and heights of villainy, and since then I've been picking my memory trying to figure out what this woman has actually done.
Has the woman actually achieved anything?
Let's rewind.
From the outset, Svetlana is portrayed in a negative light. She's the secretary to an industrialist, but has worked her way to the top by sleeping with her boss - great achievement, Svetlana. I must say, incredibly original.
If she is really such a great villain, why resort to using her feminine wiles to gain what she desires? She's no Moriarty, this one.
Then she records herself in bed with her boss/boyfriend and has that sent to a journalist, so that they can extort money. Again, very original Svetlana. Such genius is truly unheard of.
It's Roop who actually has the video leaked. It's Roop who switches the lighter on the day of the Maha Arti which leads to a murder. It's Roop who has revenge on her mind, and can be sociopathic.
What was Svetlana's role in all of this?
Let's be honest here, Svetlana doesn't do anything. She has her boyfriend's money at her disposal and we all know that money, allows for many resources. A snitch in the security team, a few supposed contacts here and there - that's it.
Aside from provoking Jhanvi, and sleeping with her boss, Svetlana hasn't done anything. There's that saying, an empty vessel always sounds louder and that's the situation here.
If making empty threats and sultry faces at a camera, is your poison then keep it at Svets. You're not intimidating anyone.
Svetlana is underwhelming as an antagonist, and until she proves her merit, will continue to do so.
Because all bark and no bite, makes Svetlana just Tej's bitch.
