My thoughts on the Shivay so far.

Hello people. As I finished watching today's episode this thought came to my mind.

Till today I was pretty upset with the way CVs were handling Shivay's character. I felt they were making him two dimensional. Bad for Anika Good for his brothers and dadi. I remember reading an article where Nakul said people will not like his character much. And I agree, even though I adored Nakul, Shivay was just not deep enough for me.

But now I understand what the CVs were trying to do. Shivay has a past. And it must be one which changes the current dynamics of the show. Also the question we keep asking, "why is Shivay so crude?"

The answer is also in folds of his past. So even though the CVs wish to keep the pace in the show they don't want to reveal everything too early.

They have taken a different approach with the development of each of the brothers.

Rudra explains his character himself by his words and action like he revealed today that he is not stupid as his Shivay bhaiya thinks.

Omkara on the other hand is being slowly unraveled by the people around him. It was Pinky who revealed a small piece of his past.

And today I realized that Shivay is not being developed right now because we are given to understand him from the point of view of the others.

First we get to see from Dadi's POV where he is the one she confides in about her fears. And he in turn assures her.

Then we see him from Om's POV where he is the caring elder brother who Om relies on and for who he fights.

We see from Anika's POV that he is cruel and ruthless. Why? We don't know yet. And neither does Anika.

Rudra sees him as his parent. One who he could ask anything from and in whose room he could hide.

Today's precap shows that how important Shivay is to the company. As much as Tej doesn't like it, from his POV Shivay is a major reason the company is running smoothly hence he wants to grab the chance to transfer those responsibilities to Om when Shivay is down.

Even as a fiancee he is committed to Tia and defends her though this is not that important.

This show has tried many new things in terms of storytelling, like starting the episode with the last scene, slow motion for dramatic effect etc. and I assume they are experimenting with character developments too. Now that I understand this, I no more feel disappointed.

So that's my two cents about the show. Tell me what you guys think.

PS: i think that Scar lady wants to destroy all Oberois and has obviously started with Shivay coz he is the eldest.

Love you'll.

On the contrary i like shivay character bc it seems real to me. When u own a fortune, the development of pride is.not very uncommon. I m not justifying his character nor i m supporting it but it is very natural and close to reality. Moreover nakhul has done marvellous job making the character more attractive.

Aside from Shivaay's dealings with Anika, I find his character..hmm...satisfying? If we take his position in context, it's no wonder he is like he is.

Shivaay Singh Oberoi is a businessman who is heading a corporation worth 15,000 crores. He is the son of one of the country's richest families. He was born in luxury and has worked to maintain the name of his family. So far we have seen him as a gentle and loving brother, son, grandson to his family, and ruthless to the people from poor/middle class family. Do I blame him for that? I can't. One can't head a humongous empire as the Oberoi's without having a shrewd brain. It would be illogical for Shivaay to think from his heart than his brain.

He thrives on paisa, power, status because that's what he has seen as the most realest thing in the world. He has wired his personality around that idea. He has seen the ugly side of the world that's why he is so open to showing hatred for the people from lower class. I don't think the show has to show a major event being the reason behind that hatred. Just the fact that generally in society, it's the people from lower class who are more opportunistic. Of course people from upper class are like that as well but they mask that better. It takes a really keen and focused eye to see through the surface and actually know about one's intentions. Shivaay has yet to learn that and I guess that would be his journey..

everyone in this family has a past or a secret runs deep down within themselves ...where most of them can be suspected for a crime...everything is possible there. younger generation had a terrible childhood ,where their parents still having pathetic life in terms of relation with each other. all of them want to free themselves , some want to do it without any loss (shivaay,om,dadi),some are ready to pay the price, like tej ...janvi want to be attached even after the negligence of tej towards her ...cause she feels that without the name of oberoy's she is nothing...that was indicated in first 2 episodes...and her sons especially om will be helpless again if she surrenders to the situation. pinky is a hopeless case...she uses shivaay as people use horses in the race of betting. shakti is equally complicated as maze...in one hand ,he says that the family is like a dream to him...on the other hand ,he proposes the "batwara" .rudra and priyanka are not clear yet. on the other side, aanika's story is also twisted.she had a younger sister..when they were separated from each other ...she wasn't that small...still she can't remember her parents or do not know anything about them.sahil's dad brought her from orphanage, gave her shelter ...but didn't gave his name to her...why? did he know her real parents?was chhutki her real sister ? can priyanka be " chhutki"? logic behind this- anika works hard to earn enough for herself, sahil and to fulfill the demand of buaji...in her situation it is natural to be late to get college education...so by any chance she is elder than priyanka?

there r so many loose ends.lots of thing to be reveal in upcoming episode.i dont know but in any way is tej is responcible for shivaay's accident?he was fearful about shivaay's marriage with tia,as it will make himm more powerful in business.in precap we see that when he is talking with om,in that time the scared lady was injecting poison.and if someone from family is involved then the power cut, bomb implant and poison infestation seems logical!!!??? sorry for bawkwas theory.

Shivaaye's character is great I feel but everything he does is not something which can make you understand him as the sole lead, they are actually showing us that he is mahaan by the eyes of others (or cruel for some) but this actually makes you feel for others and not for him.

I do not want his back story, I do not want any further development of his character, but the point why are repeatedly hitting the same chord?? In the first two episodes it was very true that Shivaaye loves and lives for his brothers and lineage, he has supported his brothers when they were in need, he stands for them and guides them, it was cleat that he is the father figure, also the first episode when he threw his mobile and did not care for the line even in a temple made clear that he was very shrewd for the others. So we knew what Shivaaye is from day 3 or 4, so what is the need to repeat the same thing again and again. Probably next they will show how he stood for Priyanka, then how he stood for Jahnavi then probably Sahil. Its like the story - A tree had many birds on it, one bird flew the second flew, then the third and this continues till eternity. Is this what we were expecting?

They have introduced the character and made us understand what he is, so now please proceed with his story, Ok you are showing him cruel to Anika great, but at least focus on a thing. He hates Anika (at least now) so please don't add the romantic back music. I don't know how many of you saw Kutumbh, but there the leads had awesome chemistry still till the romantic angle actually started, never you heard a romantic bg

This repeated mahaanta and bhai mere ma baap hain actually makes you feel irritated, its like they want to force Shivaaye as a lead. Even if your hero is not a Ram and is a Ravan (he loved his siblings dearly too) we won't mind but at least don't repeatedly say the same thing

Ik. And I am not justifying his behaviour. All I am saying is that there is some logic as to why he is so and the CVs are keeping it to be revealed later.

True. As a real character he is fine. But I wouldn't say I like him as of yet. He needs to mellow down a lot for me to like him as a character. But Nakul is hitting it spot on and I am loving Nakul.

Agree with all that you said. His character is real considering the situation. We have celebs who kill innocents in accidents and don't even regret it so it's not unbelievable to have a character such as Shivay.
