Kabir can choose to give her half mahr if they don't consummate!
Why are they worried about mahr now?
Did Zara actually deposit the full mahr amount by herself? But initially they had no plans to consummate or anything, so that way, she shouldn't have done that right? BC if they don't consummate, she's only entitled to half of the mahr! 😕

They have given her full amount. If they dont consummate and Kabeer divorces her, Zara will have to return half, right?

Zara even pissed off Ruksar saying that she had deposited the check.

From spoilers it looks like, Zara wants to fund Kabir's dreams for his community as he doesn't earn anything now.

The mahr may be separated into two parts. First, there is the muqaddam, or the prompt mahr, which the wife must receive at or immediately after the marriage ceremony. The second part of the mahr, called the mu'akhar, is a deferred and promised amount, payable at any agreed upon date following the consummation of the marriage.

During the marriage , when the contract was being signed it is said that the entire mehr will be given at that time itself and 1 cr cheque was handed over to her.
