"When Hemaji pulled my ear in jest - that what the cutest moment for me in the video."
The evergreen Hema Malini recently launched her music video Dream Girl', in the presence of Dharmendra, Amitabh, Jaya and Ramesh Sippy. Mishal Raheja (the lead of Ishq Ka Rang Safed') and Vipul Roy (Sahib Biwi Aur Boss') play two youngsters to whom love guru Hema Malini offers tips on love.
Mishal Raheja divulges details of his dream' break in a music video and also speaks about sharing screen space with the dream girl, Hema Malini.
"Hemaji told me, "Don't be nervous. I have seen your show (Ishq Ka Rang Safed'), you are a good actor."
How was the experience of working with Hema Malini?
It was the best experience of my life so far. She is one of the most legendary actors in India yet we were treated as equals; there cannot be a better expression of humility.
Were you nervous around her?
For the first few seconds, yes I was. I loudly admitted to her too that I was nervous in her presence. In a reassuring tone she said, "Don't worry, and don't be nervous. I have seen your show and you are a good actor." Those words made my heart burst with happiness - as if some crackers had been set off. I instantly felt comfortable and confident.
What is the theme of the Dream Girl' music video?
There is a popular song in the Amitabh-Hema hit, Satte Pe Satta -- Jhuka ke sar ko puchho' in which Hemaji asks half-a-dozen ruffian brothers to be gentle with a woman. Our song is on similar lines. The message for the youth of the country today via the song is to not squabble with each other when you are in love or in a relationship. It's a beautiful message.
How were you selected for this video?
They wanted an Indian face with whom the Indian audience would connect. And so they called me.
How much time did it take to shoot the music video?
It took two days! We went to Goa, shot for 20 hours for two days consecutively and then I had to rush back for my daily show (Ishq Ka Rang Safed').
Which was your most memorable moment during the shoot?
When Hemaji pulled my ear in jest during the song and I had to act as if I had understood the message she was conveying about love - that what the cutest moment for me in the video.
Which of Hema Malini's films do you recall seeing?
Her first film Sapno Ka Saudagar with Raj Kapoorji, her blockbuster Johnny Mera Naam with Dev Anand, and her double-role superhit, Seeta Aur Geeta to name a few. My favourite of course is Seeta Aur Geeta and when I asked her to name her favourite, Hemaji said Seeta Aur Geeta too.
You are working with another veteran actress Vidya Sinha in Ishq Ka Rang Safed' and now you shared screen space with Hema Malini. Which contemporary actress would you like to work with?
I would like to work with everyone, I don't have a list. By God's grace, I got to work with such talented heroines. I got to know about this video just two days before it was to be shot; it was unplanned and a really pleasant surprise.
