IKRS Wednesday 13th January 2016 ep 136 My Take

Today's episode is universal in nature as illness and death are conditions all humans go through. In one's lifetime every one comes across a time when they lose a loved one.The episode deals with a sudden calamity that befalls a loved. Poignant scenes of how family and friends hold on to each other for support are best portrayed. Human behavior is seen in terms of dealing with emotional trauma. Waiting for positive results. Being left in the expert hands of the medical team ; banking on faith and finally accepting the regrettable out come and above all dealing with the loss of a loved one .. are areas that the cvs pick upon and present in today's episode..

Tripurari returns to the safe haven of his home. He flusters, is plagued by images of gagging .. as he's killed Shambu instead of Dashrant . He needs to cover his tracks, he deletes Kanak's messages on his phone. Lays down to rest beside his sleeping wife. He will not be implicated in any way he has an alibi ..his loving wife who will vouch for him he was home all night..

In hands of the experts, up at the hospital the obvious question is what happened to Shambu? MI could be a possibility that couldn't be ruled out.. even though Viplav informs the doctor his father didn't suffer from heart disease, and next thing doctor says is to pray. The experts opinion has to be accepted that present day even the well can suffer an MI.. ordinarily the mention of heart attack is enough for the family to go to pieces ..and sure enough dadi falls to bits, weeps fearfully in the strong arms of Shambu's son Viplav! who stands strong as a fortress, while his sister weeps and his mother stands numb..but Kanak cannot blot out the scheme that it was her brain child which she shared with Tripurari that's it's babu ji she wants ticked.. how the act was to be done; he would do it as both had scores to settle with him.. for him his illegitimacy and for her to forever remove the barrier who encourages the union of Dhani and Viplav.. Tripurari.. was reluctant but she convinced him... but now what? muses Kanak it's all gone wrong.. this waiting is killing in itself.. Kanak looks at her daughter , at his mother andbabu ji weeping like a baby.. all his life Shambu fell short in his eyes.. and now he weeps.. muses Kanak... you should have been in his place.. Viplav gathers dadaji, a visibly broken father..

Then this wait is over ,expectant eyes fall upon the doctor in the hope of some positive news..but they are told Shambu has gone into a coma.. further twelve hours wait, but things point that he was involved in a strenuous scuffle ,that may have prompted the MI.. Dashrant loses it, and bad mouths the doctor! Viplav contains dada ji and apologizes on behalf of his dadi ji.. Kanak grinds her teeth , possibly at Tripurari for roughing up her maimed husband ,and bad enough ,at the wrong target!

It gets too much for Viplav , one look at his traumatized dadaji, another look at his weeping dadi.. he gives Dhani a look then turns and walks off for a breather Dhani follows him... finds waiting chairs, sits on them and begins to weaken .. his eyes get tearful ,his mouth quivers and his voice cracks with intense emotional pain.. and Dhani holds his hand and he admits, it happened so fast ,didn't even have time to think.. he cries.. pinches the bridge of his nose and sniffs back his tears, and sobs, it's the first time she's seeing him like this.. he sighs, gulps and continues in his cracking guttural voice.. he tried so very hard to gather himself.. he wipes a tear , but dadi ,maa ,dada ji.. seeing them.. and he holds his head down and presses his eyes to stop the floods of tears.. sniffs and gathers himself and turns to Dhani.. broken and helpless Dhani.. what will he do now? his voice breaks as he shakes his head, he can't understand what to do? everything happened so fast.. will she pray.. and tearfully he turns his face the other way and weeps like a baby.. she pulls him and he hides his tearful face in his palms.. and sobs uncontrollably.. Dhani presses his arm and consoles him , he mustn't cry ,all will be well.. papa will be fine.. she will pray to god and he ods as he pulls himself with tearful eyes.. and continues in a broken voice .. he was fine this morning.. and Viplav leans to his side rests his head on her shoulder , and weeps bitterly .Dhani feels the side of his face, and then tenderly rests the side of her head against his.. and cries.. bitterly and silently two souls beside each other supporting each other ,united in pain..The worth of the scene lies in it's universal appeal, it's a situation which many may have gone through.. dealing with unexpected trauma of perhaps a parent. The situation forces Viplav to show his helpless and broken down side, suddenly he is not the strong fortress he wants himself to be.. but he is open to support and all the comfort offered to him by the girl he loves.. he needed her support, that's why he looked at her as he left.. he needed to off load his brewing grief..

Not only does a patient's family deal with the sudden illness and critical state of a loved one ..they also have to deal with visitors who consider themselves as well wishers how ever unwanted they may be. But according to norms, peoples sympathies have to be accepted graciously.. Tripurari and Suvarna fall in this category .. they turn up much to both Viplav and Kanak angst.. Some relatives also panic.. and wish to offer their concerns as soon as possible , with little regards to the a patient's condition or the hospital rules.. Dulari panic monger is one such person ,and also in her panic she questions whether Dhani is auspicious for the Tirpathi household as Viplav got badly hurt and now his father is in hospital..inderani tells her off for her paranoia!

The waiting goes on at the hospital.. but the visitors arrive.. Dhani's family and the actual murderer struts in.. Kanak glares at him .. Tripurari.. hangs around with the rest of the families.. Hate him though.. what can Kanak say about him? that he has done this to her husband? Tripurari knows well that Kanak will keep her mouth shut as she is the one who orchestrated all that has come to pass..

The doctor arrives and the bad news is given to the family.. Shambu could not be saved.. Kanak loses it! no it can't be and they all run to his room.. but Viplav turn's slowly and walks away from the room where his father lay.. he looks without direction, phased out, his legs just carry his limp frame ,Dhani runs after him ,where is he going.?where is he going? she calls again and grabs his arm to stop him. He does stop , his face and eyes as if in trance ..but he replies distantly, she said she'd pray for babba.. he says, it didn't work ,she grabs his shoulder and cries, she did.. she did! she nods, and he stares at the ground and his voice cracks.. then why did he do this to his babba? and he folds his arm and begins to cry like a boy for his father.. for whom he would always be a little boy.. why did god this to his babba? and he pulls his lips down and cries bitterly, Dhani tells him, let's go to the rest but he refuses, he can't bear to see his father in such a state.. he won't goo! and his knees give way and she supports his head on on her shoulder then embraces his back as she too kneels on the hospital floor..

Behind them the body arrives on a stretcher ready to be discharged. Dhani turns to look and so does Viplav.. one look at his mother at the head of the stretcher... Strengthens the son, he hauls himself like a wounded lion and broken and dispirited the lion heart son walks towards the stretcher, hugs his dada ji then moves his spaced out mother stands before her and heads the body.. ready to take his father home..

Farewell babaa..viplav sits dressed in white supported by a column. His father's body lay on the floor in a shroud under flowers ,ready for the cremation. But before that according to the rituals Kanak has to change into a white sari. She is highly traumatized and vehmemtly rejects the transformation from married woman to widowhood.. Viplav closes his eyes. Kanak screams, she refuses to look like the widows of the Ashram she is not one of them! and she savagely throws the white sari that her daughter shalu brings for her.. Viplav startles and sees the heaped white sari on the floor! he watches his mother's trauma, gulps and remains silent..This scene is about the next section of trauma that a bereaved wife has to deal with.. it's bad enough in this case that Kanak has lost her husband. Her whole status as a person ,her role too changes drastically it's like short and sharp and swift!.. can the process be spaced ? between death and burial.. but I can see according to various faiths it cannot be possible , also the sooner the body is either buried or cremated., decomposition is avoided.. I know with Kanak it's a bitter sweet situation.. that she deserves it.. but to me the transition from death of a loved one to the white sari.. immediately seems frightening.. is this what the cv's wish to show..?

It was a sad episode for obvious reasons. The king of expressions was undoubtedly Mishal Raheja.. such a fine emotive actor every feature of his face tells a story .today his tears as Viplav made me weep as I recalled six years ago I loved him for the doomed persona he played. Mishal continues to remain for me the best male lead.. I have come across on India entertainment.. Hamlet53. 14.1.16..

Hey Hammie,

First - I'm Loving It - And I am not talking about a BigMac burger .

Next, I now can understand why you guys are such huge fans of Mishal. Of course I have not seen his earlier character which you all say was iconic. For me having a glimpse of his talent as Viplav is a good enough indication of his depth and width. Truly a brilliant actor that i have seen in a while.

Your write up yesterday - Wrong place at wrong time - for me was all about Karma . How each of our actions are accounted for and while we think we control our destiny we are rather led into it . Apologies I missed contributing to that thread . Since today was an extension of yesterday it may be a good idea to see both as a whole.

For stories to sell scandal is a norm. For every hero there is a villan and for any hero to shine the more vicious the villan the better . The story has unexpectedly taken a turn and identifying the villan has become its new challenge. Is is KT , TP or DT . What respectively is their motive and what price are they willing to pay ? Whatever be it the victims continue to be Viplav & Dhaani and their ISHQ.

Kanak frustrated with her FIL , his inability to stop Vip & dhani's growing relationship, his disregard for her ideas and his insults make her take actions in her own hand. She decides to play with fire - "Iss ghar ki bati bund kar dete hai " and get him killed. Little does she know that she is burning down her own house. The irony - Despising people for their place in society and joining their ranks due to a cruel hand of fate. Shambhu was not a favourite of his dad , had been called an aadha adhura beta by him . Neither was he very respected by his wife. His kids may have loved him as any child would do their father. But having to loose a member of the family without much warning is a shock to all. All stand together in grief hoping and praying for his well being but it is too late. What an upheaval .

Hammie you have recounted both the days so well with your excellent writing . Both the episodes have been extremely impressive in all possible aspects . I will definitely point two ,

1) excellent acting and the two that stand out is Kajal and Mishal . Kanak is a few minutes went from a smirk at her victory to her outburst of refusing to acknowledged as a widow. And Mishal standing strong supporting his family thru this difficult time to moving away to seek solace Was brilliantly done.

2) background music. For both days I found that tunes have been changed and went very well for each situation. I was torn between screenplay which was extremely taunt or music but chose the latter.

For the coming days which ever direction the show goes one thing is for sure that Dhaani will be the one to back out, Testing times are ahead for the two.

On a side note : Viplav these two episodes has the words "Razor sharp" across his chest . Is it a coincidence that we are expecting the same from him ?

Will catch up again tomorrow on hopefully another excellent episode.

Hi Hammie 😉
It was an emotional episode 😭
Apt title Hammie 👏
We never know the value of a person until they go far away from us 😭
As you said Mishal rocked the episode as a broken son , as a son consoling everyone as much as he could 😳
This was the first time seeing Vips broken into tears like this 😭
The one who plants the sin has to saw it 😉
Thought it is really sad KT has got her punishment now I guess she'll know the state of other Vidhwas 😳
Nice take Hammie dear 👏

Indeed a well executed (pun intended) episode, dear Hammie, but yet again your review bested it 👏👏
The following issues were highlighted for me:

I think that we are all going to sympathize with and enjoy Kanaks transformation from an auspicious to an inauspicious woman. We sympathize with her because no one deserves to be called inauspicious, and having to deal with that epithet in addition to the grief of losing a life partner is far from most people's definition of social justice. We enjoy her plight for two reasons: first, now the shoes is on the other foot. Kanaks overwhelming scorn, condescension and cruelty to widows is now being return to her in a case of instant karma. Second, since Kanak herself engineered the plot of killing her father in law, without any compunction, or any thought of her mother in law getting widowed, this is a form of just desserts.

Like you have mentioned in the last couple of takes, shambhu is more famous in death than in life. He was a simple man, easily overwhelmed by the strong personality of his wife, and permanently eclipsed by the orb of his father's charisma. He led a quiet life of retreat, and his stellar contribution in the form of Viplav, who has inherited his sensitivity and his grandfathers leadership will now live on.

The Kanak-trip accord is like a bond between thieves, which does not last. However, it is intriguing to me that knowing full well that trip killed her husband, Kanak still accuses Dhani, who is an easy bait for her.

Now due to the mishap and death in the family, the marriage can be indefinitely put on hold as the forum people think, or due to a sudden twist of fate, be somehow preponed. It is hard to see what cvs have in mind, and that is the whole point. Because of this we are able to sit back and anticipate relaxedly.
Have a great day.

Hello Hammie

Wonderful take on amazing episode. I'v watched this episode after reading all those gr8 posts which members of this forum wrote. And it is a super episode indeed.

I felt like reading a new age Hamlet..with full respect of the original one! I just found many similarities between the situation in IKRS and Hamlet. The father was killed by the uncle. There is a relationship between The uncle and the mother. One day maybe cvs will come up with another twist and Kanak will get married with Tripurari.

All I feel now is pure sadness. My condolances to Viplav, dadi ,Shalu and even DT who didn't know his bad deeds will hunt him this way. It is a nightmare. Poor Viplav is very hurt..and we can feel it! How will he feel when he knows the truth?!

What a strange destiny! Kanak became a widow. We won't see the over dressed Kanak talking low about widows now. She herself became a widow! And it is an enogh punishment for her now.

Tripurari is a savage, he can't feel. He is born to kill. I am very fond of the actor , and those who casted him in this role . His gr8 body, cold manner, and lack of expressions make him the coolest Villain in Indian tv. Way to go Dakssh!

What can I say about Mishal. I am heart broken. He made me feel sad for Viplav the happy go lucky guy. What is in store for this misfortuned boy? Only time will tell!

Thank you Hammie for the wonderful take .

It is one of the best episode till date with all elements and it summarizes as EMOTIONAL LOSS OF FATHER AND DHAANI Is OCCUPYING THAT PLACE SLOWLY BY CONSOLING 👏👏

Face of between (Viplov and dhaani ) to DT and KT . . Viplov again challenging his mom and Grand father that Dhaani is my pillar (loved DT and KT look - bang on ) . 👏👏- Fiery look of both of them against Vidha even in Painful situation

Last Hospital scene . Dhaani is challenging indirectly to KT , by showing her love . with 90 degree angle (Durga avatar - 9)

Break down scene - bang on .- that shows Dhaani will not leave viplov at any cost

Ayodhya pariwar stole the show yesterday .

Episode belongs to MR and EISHA 👏 and made others cry

I cried after 4 years for show 😉. IPKND made to shower my tears for BS(As a Brother ) and yesterday for MR- Viplov ( as a Child , Grownup sharp intelligent child ) faling under his soul (Pillar )😉

The king of expressions was undoubtedly Mishal Raheja.. such a fine emotive actor every feature of his face tells a story .today his tears as Viplav made me weep as I recalled six years ago I loved him for the doomed persona he played. Mishal continues to remain for me the best male lead.. I have come across on India
