I know we're in 2016...the title is just a matter of being loyal to chronology!๐
Ok, then! What a roller coaster week that was...Started with a bang & Ended with an even greater one!๐
In the middle of course, didn't know whether we were coming or going!๐
Before I go on to my HIGHLIGHTS, will try to encapsulate what stood out and what obviously didn't...in the week that was!
THE HIGHS!๐๐ผ
Have to confess here that I was pleasantly surprised as to how the week started, especially considering how completely bizarre the precap appeared last Saturday!๐
So here goes, my list of what stood out this week:
1. Really liked how the disparate worlds of the "have's" and the "have not's" was attempted to be explored this week - it was heartbreaking to see how the Tarini Widhwa Ashram womenfolk, including Dhani, withstood all of KT's menace, until it reached flashpoint with her ghastly godh bharai "gift"! Struck me as a strong social statement, especially in the context of how we urbanities react to even the slightest provocation! Don't know if it is our privilege of education or the stark difference of being 'conditioned' as being 'underprivileged'!
2. Hat's Off to how the entire gamut of Hindu (and presumably UP) rituals was used to take the story forward. Must have required some in-depth research, that! Absolutely LOVED how the backdrop of customs and rituals itself was used to make a statement - on the fallacies of 'shagun' and 'apshagun' and how easily interchangeable they are - is only a matter of mindset, will and drive!
3. Our main leads, Dhani and Viplav...
- There is a reason I have taken Dhani's name first, and the same is obviously not rocket science! ๐ Dhani has been simply OUTSTANDING this week. Her innumerable shades have just left me completely dumbstruck! If the MU track had butchered here character completely, this week has been the week of Dhani's RESURRECTION! She has been through a spectrum of emotions - from the feeling of being in love, the realization of its strength and the pain of having to let it go! Dhani has EVOLVED and how! Eisha Singh truly deserves a STANDING OVATION !๐๐๐
- Have always maintained that Viplav and Dhani are so RIGHT for each other because they have the same value set...the same core...they are simple, genuine people, yet with a mind of their own...they have similar expectations from life...Viplav's love has finally given Dhani the confidence...to be her own person...beyond the shackles of the obvious! This confidence is bound to be shaken, but the very fact that Dhani has dared to dream...is proof enough of the evolution!
- Viplav has been on a rollercoaster ride this week! He started off on such a POSITIVE note...the manner in which he turned around the "Apshagun" drama on its head and the spin that he gave to "Balachha" was nothing short of BRILLIANT! LOVED how spontaneously the dynamic of his changing paradigm with Dhani was playing out...the desire...the innocence...the playfulness...the sheer joy of having found the love of one's life! And then, don't know what happened...the CVs shayad decided to go on a holiday๐, Viplav started mouthing inane lines ๐, and suddenly I couldn't recognize the man standing in front of me!๐ But finally the trauma ended...we had to wait for a 'mahaepisode' for that to happen - Viplav Tripathi is back, and back with a vengeance! Mishal Raheja, you have turned it around, and how! ๐๐๐
THE LOWS!
1. Have already mentioned it, ranted through the whole week for anyone who was willing to listen๐ - is obviously the unsteady graph of Viplav, which has hopefully come to an end today! Please don't get me wrong friends, am completely a FAN of the uniqueness that Viplav brings to the table - it is only when some facets of his completely overrule the others, as if they never existed, things get a little difficult to digest! The ENDEARING Viplav is a TREAT to watch, it is his natural persona...that clubbed with the right measure of INTELLECT is the Viplav I had set out to watch!๐
2. The pace of the show - still can't figure out which way we are headed! So many core issues have just been conveniently brushed under the carpet! Am beginning to wonder does Dhani really have a past after all? Has it truly scarred her, the way we are all believing it to be??!! How come strong sentiments like "widhwa yog" are being used without Dhani ever knowing about it - the story is based in Benaras right?? How can Dhani be so painfully naive to not see through KT, despite all her misdoings??!! How come Dhani has so conveniently forgotten that it was DT who had created that MAMMOTH misunderstanding between Viplav and her over the ashram papers?? How can she trust DT so blindly?? So many questions - No answers in sight!!
3. I might be the odd one out, please pardon me for saying this, but genuinely believe that save for the last 15 minutes of the mahaepisode, the rest was just cringe worthy!! I mean was that IKRS we were watching?? Snakes out of nowhere; Bats flying; Sanskrit shlokas playing in the background when KT was up to her hilarious antics!!! ๐ I know this was probably the only premise under which the mahaepisode was sanctioned, but this is truly not what I had set out to watch!! IKRS was suppose to be different - was sitting there in complete disbelief as all this chaos unfolded before me!!
Anyway, now coming to the HIGHLIGHTS, the section that gives me so much HAPPINESS, actually pure BLISS!๐ณ
1. Nuanced ViDha moments:
- There were quite a few this week...
- LOVED it when Viplav insisted that his car would drop the Safed Gang home...LOVED it even more when Dhani refused!๐
- That little moment when Dhani stops as she gets into the car...looks at Viplav...a hint of a smile as Viplav gesticulates with a "sorry"...and Dhani, finally waving a sublime "Bye"!
๐๐๐
- The Phone Convo immediately after the jeep accident...Dhani's concern completely palpable as she snatches the phone to speak to Viplav...Viplav starting off as only he can..."Shikayati Pudiya"...but immediately realizing the gravity of the situation on hearing Dhani's panicking voice!
- The Phone Convo immediately after the incident wherein Viplav sneaks into the ashram to hand Dhani the phone...he starts off on his usual "Tum yeh mat samajhna ke humey tumahri yaad aa rahi thi" mode, BUT, most nonchalantly moves to the "Sita Mai" core issue!
๐๐๐
- That's the balance I am referring to, friends...in Viplav's character...is visible in the most unassuming of situations!๐๐ผ Would be so good if we could see it all the time...seamlessly blending in...
2. The "Hum tumhare liye Dress laye hain" and "Phone Call gone awfully wrong" scenes:
a) The former (Dress scene):
- LOVED, absolutely LOVED the fun element of the scene...Friendship still at the core of it all...ADORED how Dhani was reeking of INNOCENCE as Viplav unfolds his 4 point agenda! ๐The writing simply TOP NOTCH! "Humey daatna band karo Dhani"..."Kya hum surf tumhari data khane ke liye paida huye hain, Dhani?"๐
- Immediately after, there were so many shades of ViDha on display - the caring Viplav...the flirtatious Viplav...the child-like Viplav...as Dhani blushes with her coyness completely intact! As Dhani would!
- Then as Dhani says no, and Viplav leaves crestfallen, Dhani stops him with only a simple tug at his shirt or was it Viplav's heartstrings as only Dhani can!!
- The moments thereafter were pure MAGIC! The importance of the "Dress" for Viplav and the importance of the "Sari" for Dhani...finally changing into...the importance of the "Dress" for Dhani and the "Sari" for Viplav! Pure BRILLIANCE!!๐๐๐
- And then...the Hug...so many layered moments there! The Hug at the end of such a romantic moment would come naturally to Viplav; for Dhani it is a whole new world to inherit, and hence, the hesitancy! Viplav sensed this and seeked Dhani's permission...she still undecided, her innocence doing the talking..."Par galey kyon lagna hai?" to which Viplav, as only Viplav can, "assures" her "Kyonki tum itni pyaari ho Dhani"...and then the final 'confusion'... as Viplav just grabs Dhani and seals the moment with a "Oh God! I love you so much" moment!
CLASSINESS personified!โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
Will probably be one of the BEST ViDha hugs for me...was so REAL...had Viplav and Dhani written all over it...was exactly how a ViDha private moment would pan out for me!
- A HEARTFELT mention here for Mishal and Eisha...one false note and the entire scene would have fallen flat!
The ViDha magic created its SPELL...ONCE AGAIN!
๐๐๐
b) The latter (the phone convo)
- Absolutely LOVED the fact that Dhani initiated the call๐๐ผ A subtle yet strong hint of the progress in ViDha's relationship!
- ADORED how Viplav and Dhani were playing along with each other...as Viplav said "mausam ka haal", Dhani's immediate volley of "uss tarf ka haal!"๐ LOVED it!
-The moment when the "Aayi" reference was made - was to die for, as Dhani said "Achha woh wala aayi"!๐There are times when Viplav and Dhani seem so alike - drawing so much happiness from the simple pleasures of life! Viplav's reaction as Dhani reminded him of his Hindi grammar lessons was one such! ๐
- Thereafter the "grand finale" - as Viplav trains Dhani 'cos he just won't have it any other way! If Viplav's "kirane ka saaman ka order de rahi ho kya Dhani" didn't crack you up, Dulaari's "Tanki uchha boliye" would definitely have!๐
- LOVED the way the scene ended - as Viplav "heard" Dhani...there is a reason why Dhani's photograph adorns Viplav's room!๐
3. The "Confrontation Scene"
- At the outset, a new BENCHMARK has been set - for what "Confrontation Scenes" need to look like, going forward!๐คช๐ฅณ
- LOVED, absolutely LOVED the attention to detail - Dhani sitting in a dimly lit room with just a ray of light illuminating her face...as Viplav comes knocking! Nice metaphor, that!โญ๏ธ
- LOVED the moment when Dhani opens the door, Viplav completely dumbfounded that Dhani is in white. He notices it, but only he has! Dhani doesn't have a clue!๐
- LOVED, absolutely LOVED how Viplav comes straight to the point - "Kya Ma ne tumse kuch kaha hai Dhani"...quickly moves on to a simplistic "Safed rang kyon Dhani"...and immediately lets go with "Chalo Chodo! Koi karan zaroor hoga"..."Hum yahan tumse sawal jawab karne nahin aaye hain!" as soon as Viplav senses Dhani's discomfort!
- So many things said in that one SINGLE moment about Viplav's character...OUTSTANDING job, CVs!!๐๐๐
- LOVED Dhani's turmoil as all this plays out...SPOT ON! The stutter...the stammer...the tongue-tied Dhani! A sheer DELIGHT to watch!โญ๏ธ
- LOVED, absolutely LOVED how Viplav could gauge Dhani's unrest, read the pain in her eyes...and tries to dissipate it...with a simple "Hum angoothi ko khud hi shuddh kar lete hain"!๐
AND, THEN...
- The ring is hurled!
- And surprisingly, all hell does not break loose!๐
- Viplav asks a simple question...and...Dhani lets it all out...at one go! She only just manages to BLURT it out ! ๐๐๐
- LOVED, the association made with the ring via "Hum apna haath tumhare haath main nahin dena chahte"! Good touch that, CVs!
AUR USKE BAAD...
- Viplav's reaction - he just didn't know what hit him! The EXPRESSION to convey that was PERFECTION personified!โญ๏ธ
- The complexity of emotions thereafter - Disbelief ! Denial ! Dismissal !
- Some GREAT writing too - "Ab humein thodi si ghabrahat ho rahi hai..."
- This LETHAL combo...will surely go down in the history books!!๐๐๐
- Dhani in the midst of all this - her heart breaking inside, BUT, her stoic demeanor intact outside! Not a flinch; Not a flutter! Dhani's pain was PALPABLE!
- And, finally, as Dhani shows Viplav the door...LOVED the "Bhagya" touch! How ironic for Viplav to ask "Yeh Bhagya beech main kahan se aa gaya hai?"
๐๐๐
