I was waiting for someone to mention the movie Prem Rog. Thanks.
Now, Mrs. Guha (co-producer) in an interview told that she read a book based on life of widows which inspired her for creating IKRS. Let's see.

The basic difference between Prem Rog and IKRS is that in PR, the female lead came from an affluent family and the male lead was from poor background;while the case just the opposite here in IKRS :)

True.
IKRD and Prem rog are not similar other than that the female leads in both are widows. 😛
