I was being questioned,

Distrusted by them,

Distrusted by the people of Little Hangleton
Overheard a big thing,

He overheard Voldemort's plan of killing Harry
It is my fate that left me behind,

Else the ending would be different.

His fate left him in the Riddles's estate still after their death which actually led to his death by Voldemort.
