Hello friends, I'm here again to update today's episode (Jan 06, 2007). Since this is my 2nd update I hope all of you will bear my amateur writing and over look any mistake. Also, the comments made by the judges, the host and any other person - written in the update are not exactly word-to-word as it was on screen. I tried my best to remember it and took down some notes, so please don't refer to them in any way as offensive or unpleasant.
The episode begins in its usual manner; the host introduces the Bollywood top gun jury no. 1. Today's theme is Big B- Amitabh Bacchan. Every Friday a star is born and every Friday a star is forgotten. But AB is such a star who has been sparkling in the Bollywood sky for last 30 years. To honor his years of success, today the CKK participants will perform on some of the most memorable scenes and songs of AB's movies.
The judges are asked about their impression on AB.
Madhur Bhandarkar- I have been watching him from my childhood, in my eyes he's is a complete actor.
Pooja Bhatt- What is the best thing about him is that he is different than anyone else out there. He doesn't imitate anyone or tries to be someone else. So, whoever dare to be himself and dares to be different will always shine.
Anupam Kher- After Dillip Kumar, AB is the only actor in my eyes who was able to do justice to both tragedy and comedy movies. I have worked with him in several movies. One time we were shooting for the movie "Akheri Rasta". During that time I had seen some glimpse of success and I had a very big image of myself in my own eyes. There in my make up room, the A/C wasn't working. I called the production manager and told him that "Do you know who I am? I'm an actor from the most renowned acting school. How come the A/C in my room isn't working? Where is AB?" The production manager pointed me to AB and I saw him in his getup for the scene, with make-up on (dari-mooch, pant, shirt, kambal) sitting in a corner for the shoot. I went down to him and asked him if he was feeling warm with no A/C in his getup. He told me in his usual manner, when he thinks about the uncomforting temperature he feels it, but when he doesn't think about it, it doesn't bother him at all.
Next an AVI is shown- all the participants from group A imitating different moods of AB's on-screen characters.
The first group dance is presented with the song "Come On, Come On (Remix)" from the movie Baabul.
The judges are asked their reaction to the opening performance.
Madhur Bhandarkar- It seems like they have improved through the months that they have been here.
Pooja Bhatt- I'm sorry but there is 0 coordination in the song between all of you. This is not a way to start the New Year my dears. I'm sorry but no coordination at all.
Anupam Kher- It looks like as if all of you have reached you peak of performance level and will not move any further. It doesn't look like there is any other way or scope for you to go above this level.
The first pair to perform today are Sahil and Pallavi. Some clippings from their shoot is shown before the actual scene. They worked on a scene from the movie "Zanjeer" where AB asks Jaya Bhaduri to identify the truck driver; the scene didn't have any spark in it. It seemed very dull and Sahil's work definitely lacked enthusiasm. Later on they dance in the tune of "Pyar Mein Dil Pe Maar De Goli" from the movie "Mahaan".
During the scene they showed Anupam Kher who seemed extremely disgusted by the dance and he wasn't even looking at them properly.
Judges reaction:
Madhur Bhandarkar- Both the scene and the song seemed average to me. It could've been better.
Pooja Bhatt- It was a very labored performance from both Sahil and Pallavi. So far every time Sahil or Pallavi has performed, your performance came form within which touched us all, but today I must say both of your performance seemed very very labored.
Anupam Kher- After three months of training, this is rubbish. I don't want to mark them for this performance, it was absolutely gutter. If I really have to mark them for their performance then I will give them each 1.
Madhur Bhandarkar gives both of them 6 and Pooja Bhatt gives Sahil a 6 and Pallavi a 5.
Anupam Kher looses his cool and says to the other judges "you don't have to generous to them. No body was generous to us when we started. As your senior I request both of you to reconsider your marks. You are over marking them. They don't deserve our generosity with this performance. I have spent 26 days on a railway platform in the 3 beginning years of my career. It's something that you have to earn. They have 5-star hotel to stay, the best faculty to train them. The luxury of having a platform to showcase their talent."
Anupam Kher requests the choreographer to step forward and come on the stage. Two choreographers come up to the stage. The male choreographer Danny is given the mic. Ak asks him "You spoke to me yesterday saying that no matter how much you try to teach them their dancing movements they never learn it perfectly. What do you think is their main problem? Have you seen the performance by Sahil and Pallavi today? Was it up to the mark?"
Danny says the main problem is when we train them for their piece pf act, their mind is elsewhere and they don't concentrate. I saw Sahil and Pallavi's performance from back stage and it was not up to the mark.
Pooja Bhatt agrees with him and says that if they mark the participants honestly then so far in this competition no one has gone up to a level above 5/10. So, sincerely scoring them she gives both Sahil and Pallavi a 3 each.
So the final score for Sahil and Pallavi stands:
Madhur Bhandarkar Pooja Bhatt Anupam Kher
Sahil- 6 3 1
Pallavi- 6 3 1
The next pair to perform is Adil and Mamta. The shooting clips from their scene are shown. They perform on a scene form the movie "Shaarabi". The scene seemed very very average and Adil didn't do his best, though Mamta not at her best did better than Adil. They dance in the tune of "Jahan teri ye nazaar hai" from the movie "Kalia". In between the dance performance Anupam Kher was shown on screen and he had a very irritated look on his face.
Judges reaction:
Madhur Bhandarkar- Adil seemed better to me than Mamta today. Even though Adil could be better. Mamta didn't seem great overall, but she did well.
Pooja Bhatt- Adil, Anupam Kher has always told you that you open up your mouth very often which you need to work on. Today it affected your scene and you need to be more serious about this. Mamta according to me was better than Adil overall.
Anupam Kher-Adil was very bad today, there is no question about it. Laugh again right now like you did in your Scene. Adil does the laugh for him. Anupam Kher literally roars at him saying it sounds awful. What is this ?? It sounds like Hehehehehehehe … Anupam Kher tries to imitate Adil, which comes out god-awful. Adil was standing straight and for a minute looked like he was trying to pull his shirt/trouser from a side. Anupam Kher again jumps on him roaring "Don't put your hand on your back!!! I don't want to know if your back hurts!! It's been 3 months and this is what you guys have done?!?" Adil tries to tell him that he wasn't putting his hand on his back; he was just adjusting his cloth. But in between Anupam Kher's roar his voice couldn't be heard.
So the final score for Adil and Mamta stands:
Madhur Bhandarkar Pooja Bhatt Anupam Kher
Adil- 6 3 1
Mamta- 5 4 3
Rahul and Varsha are up next. Clippings from their shooting are shown. They perform on a scene from the movie "Aagnipath". I must say Varsha's expression and overall work in the scene was very recommendable. Rahul seemed loud in his performance and showed a tendency of imitating AB. They danced in the tune of "Dekha na Hai re' from the movie "Meet na mila". Again Anupam Kher was shown looking aimlessly, and this time Pooja Bhatt was looking at him with a smile and a "well what can we do now, at least the show is about to be over for the day" look.
Judges reaction:
Madhur Bhandarkar- Varsha was very good in the scene. Rahul was OK. The scene leaned more towards Varsha and Rahul had less scope in it. Rahul missed couple of steps in the dance, where as Varsha was OK.
Pooja Bhatt- First of all I'd like to say Thank God that this show has found some life as of now. Thanks to you both. Varsha was very good overall in my eyes. Rahul has somehow got himself trapped in an image which isn't allowing him to move forward, so you have to work on that.
Anupam Kher- Varsha was certainly better in the scene than Rahul; there is no doubt about that. Couple of months ago Rahul you came to my office, touched my feet and took my blessing for this journey that you are on right now. Back then I told you that do your best and leave the rest upto God. But now I see that you have become dishonest to yourself. I see beimaani in you and in your work. Don't take us from granted just because we are sitting here to judge you. People wait for months and years to spend some time with us in our office. Just because you have shaken hands with Anupam Kher or you think Pooja Bhatt comes to meet you, you take us from granted and don't concentrate on your work.
He continues and praises Varsha for her hard work and the attitude that she has shown towards this show. Pooja Bhatt joins him saying that only in the basis of Attitude Varsha has come forward in this show and has proven her self improved in every episode. She was kicked out of the show, she fought her way back in and she has proved that she has what it takes to remain in this show. She is the only one who is playing her cards right in this competition.
So the final score for Rahul and Varsha stands:
Madhur Bhandarkar Pooja Bhatt Anupam Kher
Rahul- 6 5 4
Varsha- 8 7.5 7
The last pair for the day is Piku and Mrittunjay. The clips from their shooting are shown. The worked on a scene from the movie "Abhimaan". The scene was very touching. Specially Piku was brilliant. In the end of the scene when her eyes became moist, it seemed any moment a pearl will drop from her eyes. According to me this was Piku's best scene yet. Mrittunjay wasn't very exceptional. He did an average job. They danced in the tune of "Jumma chumma de de" from the movie "Hum".
Judges reaction:
Madhur Bhandarkar- Piku was very good in the scene. Mrittunjay's performance was very "thanda". Since I always expect more from you, may be that's why I find you less competitive this time. If I have to say in my own terms , he was a "jhandu". (I have no idea what that means, my wild guess will be good-for-nothing)
Pooja Bhatt- There was absolutely zero coordination in the song from Piku. You looked very sincere in the scene, may be because it resemble your present life situation. I have gone through such phases in my life where I have felt in such a way, and I think that's why your performance in the scene has touched me today. About Mrittunjay, I think you are trapped within your one good performance and you are not moving anywhere from that.
Anupam Kher- Piku the scene was very good. May be because you are facing this situation due to your present life ..
and this conversation goes very very detailed. I will try to summarize it as much as possible.
Anupam Kher basically asks Piku if she is having problem at home due to her taking part in this competition. If she has any objections from her husband and/or her in-laws.
Piku breaks down into tears and says that I request you all to let me go (quit/leave) from this show. My husband is very sick for a few days now. I take care of him the whole night. Every night he has high fever and vomiting. I come to the rehearsals in the morning and I can't share a word about this with anyone. I can't explain you the pain I'm going through right now.
Anupam Kher tells her if you decide to quit how you would face the janta of Assam who have been supporting you and cheering for you. What will you tell them? Madhur Bhandarkar adds that you are improving day by day and you shouldn't quit at this point.
Piku replies saying that I'm honored by the love that the Assam supporters has showered on me, but I'm sure every janta has his/her own family and they know how important you family is to you, they will understand the sensitivity of my situation.
Aman Varma, the host says that whether Piku can quit the show or not must be decided and confirmed by the CKK officials. As soon as they have a final word about this, we will announce it.
Anupam Kher finally finishes his comment by saying that judging your performance today Piku did very well in the scene, you are not very good in dancing which I understand. For Mrittunjay, in this whole competition you haven't moved up more than a 3 on a scale of 10.
So the final score for Piku and Mrittunjay stands:
Madhur Bhandarkar Pooja Bhatt Anupam Kher
Piku- 6 4 5
Mrittunjay- 5 4 2
In the end the judges are asked to summarize their impression about this episode:
Madhur Bhandarkar- "Jhandu"
Pooja Bhatt-Dead performance, this is not a way to start the New Year, I'm sorry but there was no energy.
Anupam Kher- After 3 months of training, if this is what they have to show us, then I don't know what to say.
Aman Varma says that before the shooting of "Shaarabi" AB's hand was burnt in an accident, so during the shoot of the movie "Sharaabi" AB had his hand in his coat/pant pocket. Ever since it has become a style statement in Bollywood.
For the final touch, based on AB's theme the judges are asked their AB favorite movies and/or songs:
Pooja Bhatt- the song "Mere Saath Aao" from "Mr. Natwar Lal".
Madhur Bhandarkar-the song "Jane Kab Kayse" (sorry I missed the name of the movie) and the movie "Namak Halal' and the scenes from "Sholay" where he has talking to Mousi (Basanti's Mousi).
Anupam Kher- the song "Salaam-e-ishq" from "Muquddar ka Sikandaar" and the movie "Sholay" and "Hum".
The final score table:
Sahil- 10
Adil-10
Rahul-15
Mrittunjay-11
Pallavi-10
Mamta-12
Varsha-22.5
Piku-15
Just before the conclusion of the show, an AVI is shown – two new comers from the wild card entry. Their full face isn't showing, just some side shots of them getting off the car and walking in with their luggage.
That's all from CKK this week, next Friday we're going to see elimination from group B.
