It's almost hammer time. The first set features two ODI World Cup winners: Travis Head and Steven Smith. Karun Nair, the highest run-getter in the most recent Maharaja T20 Trophy and Manish Pandey, the Maharaja title-winning captain, are the only two Indian batters in the first set of capped batters.

Justin Langer, LSG head coach: "Very much excited. When it comes to the action, that will be the most exciting time. The fans are an important part of every franchise and it's my first time [at the IPL auction]. We've got a settled team already and just have a couple of slots to fill. I'm feeling pretty relaxed. The first player up for grabs is WI T20I capt Rovman Powell. He's a Royal in the CPL. He has set his base price at 1 crore. KKR open the bidding for Powell. RR jump in and compete for Powell. Remember, Powell also captains Barbados Royals in the CPL

The bid has touched 2 crore. It's with KKR. Powell can also bowl a bit and has some cutters in his repertoire. RR and KKR continue to battle it out for Powell. The WI big-hitter, though, is vulnerable to wristspin.

Okay, the bid has quickly jumped up to 4 crore. Both Royals and KKR are still in it. Will he join his idol Andre Russell at KKR? No activity at the DC tables yet. They had released Powell ahead of this auction.

RR in the lead at 5.4 crore. KKR aren't letting Powell go. Venky Mysore, KKR's CEO, raises the paddle once again. I think KKR was also Powell's first IPL franchise.

RR and KKR are still locked in a bidding war for Powell.
