In keeping with its philosophy of offering innovative and distinct content, Sony Entertainment Television, is now all set to launch the second series of its groundbreaking phenomenon, 'Indian Idol'.
'Indian Idol' gave the country it's very first 'Idol'… Abhijeet Sawant. Hailing from a modest, middle class background, 'Indian Idol' catapulted this Mumbai boy to unprecedented heights of fame, fortune, stardom and adulation. Last year the show experienced a collage of emotions, raising levels of viewer frenzy and excitement coupled with the contestants' tears and joys, heartbreak and jubilation, learning's and achievements. 'Indian Idol' showcased exceptional talent to the forefront and soon witnessed mass hysteria fuelled by the viewers' ardent support and voting frenzy to make their favourite contestants win. The viewers ultimately became a part of the contestant's very existence, moulding their destiny. This year too 'Indian Idol' will give the people of this nation the opportunity to chase their dreams and the power to make one talented aspirant's dream come true. In addition to a recording contract with Sony BMG, the 'Indian Idol' will be awarded a contract with Sony Entertainment Television worth Rupees One Crore, thus catapulting him/her to unparalleled stardom, fame and fortune.
And, how does one become an 'Indian Idol'? It's simple…
1. This September, young aspirants across India can register themselves by dialing 646 from their Airtel phone or register via their landlines. The 'Indian Idol' crew will travel to 13 cities including Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Indore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Karnal, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata, inviting registrations and those eligible will receive registration numbers for the auditions.
2. In October 2005, auditions will be held in Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata where the show producers will first shortlist contestants. These contestants will then be auditioned by the panel of judges who will undertake the challenging task of choosing 150 ' Indian Idol' aspirants from the thousands who may have registered.
3. In November 2005, the judges will further trim them down to 28 contestants. Hereon, the nation aids the process by voting for the 12 finalists. The entire nation will follow the journey of these 12 finalists and finally vote and choose their second 'Indian Idol'.
The winning team of Indian Idol's popular judges - Farah Khan, Sonu Nigam and Anu Malik, who made waves with their valuable insights, constructive criticism, mutual disagreements and funny anecdotes, will once again create magic on screen together. While the judges, take on the challenging task of whittling down thousands of aspirants to the deserving few, the popular hosts of 'Indian Idol' - dashing actor Aman Yatan Verma and viviacious Mini Mathur will take on their roles as presenters and also close confidantes of the contestants.
