Kailash Kher, the man who has created a niche for himself in the Bollywood music industry with his earthy raw voice, will be judging the fourth season of Indian idol. The auditions begin on Saturday. We asked him about the qualities he looks for in a contestant.
"Though the show looks for all round performance I will judge only the voice quality of the contestant," said Kailash and added, "I am looking forward to working with Javed Akhtar, Anu Malik and Sonali Bendre, my co-judges in Indian Idol 4."
According to Kailash his shooting for Indian Idol will not affect their band Kailasa's tour which starts on the 14th of May. The band will be visiting US and Europe, where their Sufi combined with jazz music is quite popular.
Kailash is very excited about his combined venture, along with fellow band-mates Paresh and Naresh, as composers for bollywood films. Their band albums have already scored a number of hits and Kailash is very confident of getting the same kind of reviews with the movies too.
He says, "Pranali – The tradition got good reviews, so I'm confident about the future compositions too." Pranali – The tradition is the arty film with which Kailash, Naresh and Paresh turned debut film composers.
When questioned what he owed his fantastic voice to he said, "Many people give their genes or their riyaaz the credit, but I give all thanks to God for my voice and the success that it has got me."
