Amit Paul -- the perfect Candidate

As Javed Akhtar Saab remarked in the Indian Idol gala last week, it is indeed after a very long time that a voice so full of beauty and maturity has come forth in our music industry. A voice of such perfect form is rare..But when it comes to Amit Paul, one can always expect the best to be bigger and better.

To put it simply, Amit's voice is beautiful. It is also very powerful and very well balanced. It is the kind of voice which is full of passion and romance and can infuse melody into any and every tune. On top of this natural asset, Amit is a hard worker. A perfectionist in the true sense of the word. He puts in commendable efforts for each and every performance and never does he compromise on his singing. The others who have made it to the top 3 are immensely talented in their own ways. Emon Chatterjee's solid classical training reflects from his renditions. Similarly, Prashant Tamang's vocals have the earthy feel to them..But Amit is in a league of his own. Undoubtedly, his singing is always note perfect. But the emotional content, the feel, the capacity to completely involve the audience are all well maintained too.

Versatility is another of his assets. He can sing it all..a semi classical yet contemporary In Dino, intensely romantic numbers like Nasha Yeh Pyar Ka and Pehla Nasha, fun filled tracks like Jhumroo, eternal Kishore Da songs like Dil Kya Kare and O Meri Soni, Pancham Da's fast tunes like Dil Lena Khel Hai, Bappi Da's disco evergreens like Yaad Aa Raha Hai..and I still know that with Amit the best is always yet to come. He just keeps getting better and better..

From the Indian Idol point of view, he has unconventional good looks. A soft, mature and humble personality, Amit makes one instantly fall in love with him. He has faced an elimination already and I wonder, if he hadn't come back through the wild card how much we would have missed!

Now its totally upto us to make sure he wins the crown. An Amit album would be a treat to the ears..I am sure that God willing Amit will one day make it real big in the music industry.
