Why this bias against thin voices?

I have noticed that a lot of people like male singers with deep manly voices. For example, some people would say Udit is a better singer then Sonu because he has this manly voice while Sonu's voice is thin. This is the reason cited by some people and certain critics who don't think singers like Shaan and Sonu are extremely good is because their voices are not deep and manly. I personally think singers with thin voices can take a higher pitch and have more soulful singing. Atif Aslam does not have a manly deep voice, but still his singing is so soulful and he sings at such a high pitch.

In females, people equally like a sweet melodious voice like Alka's and a husky voice like Sunidhi's.

I think both thin and deep voices in men are equally good, but most people are in favour of deep voices for men for some reason.

It is not really a bias. Even in thin, there are different levels. Too thin a voice sounds good only for high pitched songs.
