Jamshedpur, July 25: After Abhijeet Sawant and Amit Sana, it is the turn of city school students.

Keeping in mind the huge popularity that the Indian Idol show enjoyed, city-based Kerala Samajam Model School is gearing up to launch its own version of Jamshedpur Idol as a part of the school's silver jubilee celebrations.

Aimed at school students, this talent hunt, slated to begin from August 6, promises to be different from the shows that people watch on the television screen.

Jamshedpur Idol will provide a platform to all aspiring singers from various schools to showcase their musical expertise.

This show would be open for students from primary level right up to Plus Two.

"The talent hunt will basically focus on the singing abilities of the contestants. There will be a number of preliminary rounds after which five contestants would be selected from all the schools who will fight for the coveted title of Jamshedpur Idol," said Nandini Shukla, principal of the school.

Eminent singers from Jamshedpur will form the jury who will be given the task to judge participants at all levels, added the principal. All city-based schools have been invited to send a 20-member team to represent them at the Jamshedpur Idol.

After some gruelling rounds over the next few months the grand finale would be held on November 14, the Children's Day.The title of Jamshedpur Idol would fetch a prize money of Rs 25,000, apart from its fair share of recognition and fame.

The first runner-up will be presented with Rs 15,000 while the second runner-up would be given Rs 10,000.

The number of rounds that the participants have to go through to reach the top is yet to be finalised by the school authorities.

"We have not finalised the total number of rounds but it is certainly not going to be less than two rounds," said Meena Dasgupta, vice-principal of the school.

Noted singer Usha Uthup will be one of the judges for the grand finale. The school authorities are thinking on the lines of getting one more celebrity to be on the jury.
