Siliguri, July 24. — This should spell good news for millions of
girls who have lost sleep over 'Indian Idol' Abhijit Sawant!
The heartthrob of many, Abhijit says he has no girlfriend. "I have
innumerable girl fans but not a girlfriend," says the Indian Idol.
Revealing his "secrets" in an exclusive interview with this
correspondent at a Siliguri hotel on Saturday afternoon, the pin-up
boy also makes it clear that marriage is not in his mind at least for
the next two years.
As Abhijit answered the questions one after another, he was neither
nervous nor too casual, rather he was quite professional.
Here are a few excerpts from the interview:
n How do you find Siliguri?
lAbhijit:"Actually I have not visited any of the haunts here. I
haven't gone out of my hotel suite since I stepped in this morning."
n But does this mean you don't find this region exciting
enough?
lAbhijit :"It is not that. I did not get much sleep yesterday night
as I was performing and I since I'm performing this evening too I
thought it wise to take a nap."
The night before that is, on Friday, he had a show in Mumbai and just
after the show he
boarded the flight for Kolkata and then for Bagdogra.
n With a hectic schedule as this how does you manage time for
practice?
lAbhijit : "It is true that these days I don't get enough time for
practicing. But at the same time when you are performing it also
compensates for practicing as in both cases you are basically
making 'use' of your voice."
n That means professional singers don't need to spend time on
rehearsals?
(The Indian Idol suddenly correcting himself clarified his stand)
l Abhijit: When I am out of practice for many days at a stretch, I do
feel like I am 'lagging behind.'
n Siliguri and its adjoining areas have proved ucky for Bollywood
stars. In fact portions of the recent two big hits from the cine
industry 'Main Hoon Na' and 'Parineeta' were shot in this region. So,
how about shooting your next album here?
lAbhijit: "Well I would love to shoot in this region as I have heard
of the beautiful landscape here. (Pausing a little) But the problem
is that when you choose a location like this for shooting an album
should have a huge budget and that's why producers try to avoid
outstation spots."
But giving some hope Abhijit promised that he would try to fix a
shooting of his album in this region very soon. Which is something
great to look forward to.
