Me too Connie 😕..I was thinking had it been other way round like an Indian guy was eliminated although he sings better than others what would have been our reactions .....😕

If Sanjaya gets thru the next round bec suddenly we have this patriotic fervor ( which we can show in many other positive manner) then I'll be really sad...

This is what we screamed against when Amey was out ( in this case it was regional voting ) ....

I hope true talent wins....

just my 2 cents😃

Many people were screaming of regionalism the same when Sanchita or UA won Lil Champs, that they earned many votes from their hometown, regionalism etc. Even in II2 when certain contestants kept getting the most votes even though they gave mediocre performances in some rounds. Sanchita is the better singer and deserved to win but regionalism exists even when the better singer wins. Sabina and Piyush won Cinestars but many suspect politics and bias on the judges end, even though they both were the better talent. True talent winning doesn't mean there is no regionalism or politics involved. My TWO cents.

Last season Kevin made it to the top twelve and it was the same situation. People were complaining how he should have been voted out. He was the youngest. I think its more than just Sanjaya is Indian. Maybe people "like" his hair, maybe its the sympathy factor, which is prevalent in many shows. Simon does keep saying Sanjaya has great hair. Could be anything! If not this week, then he'll be out next week...but it depends on how well he sings and he can sing which is why he made it to the top 24...but definitely there is better talent in the show...even a hottie like Ace couldn't survive for long on AI...I'm sure true talent will eventually make it far in AI 😛

Is Shilpa winning Big Brother another case of regionalism? 😕 Guess the debate can go on and on.

Hi there!!

Firstly, sorry for adding a different post in between an on-going interaction.

I am a part of the Voice of America news agency team in Washington DC., which affiliates with AAJTAK news channel in India.

We are planning to do a television news story (which would feature on Aajtak)on Sanjaya Malakar who is a potential aspirant on the current season of American Idol.

Related to that context, we are looking for an Indian family (or any specific member) who is a regular watcher of American Idol and Sanjaya Malakar. We are interested in interviewing on how you (and/or your family) find the show, and your opinions on Sanjaya and his journey so far.

Kindly PM me here, if anybody is interested and lives in MD, VA, or DC area.

Thanking you.
