If you switch on to the gossip show Popkorn on Zoom TV, you won't find Mini Mathur hosting anymore. It is learnt that Mathur had financial issues with the new management and decided to put in her papers.
Mini confirms, "I had a lot of issues with the Popkorn team, which is why I decided to part ways. I was thinking of leaving the show for a long time, but finally took the decision when the new management took over and things started going downhill. Besides, I was getting bored with the content and format."
Moving on
After being on the show for over a year, Mini feels it was time to move on. "I cannot be part of something I don't feel passionate about. I had a good time in the earlier episodes, but later things went bad. Besides, I also took up Sirf Ek Minute, a live show on SaharaOne."
Having always enjoyed being part of live audience shows like Indian Idol, Mini found the proceedings at Popkorn rather dull. A source close to the actress adds, "After doing two seasons of Indian Idol and being a host on various live shows, she found it suffocating standing in a crammed studio dishing out lines about TV actors she doesn't even know. Mini is more at ease and relaxed now that Popkorn is behind her."
New horizons
What about the stories about bad vibes between Mini and the management? Mini admits, "That's true, but I don't want to get into it. I am happy that I took the decision to leave and they were co-operative in letting me resign."
Future plans? "I have a couple of ideas in mind, and there's another show in the pipeline. In a couple of weeks, I would be able to share these with you."
