Is it just me...or are the song choices this season REALLY bad. I mean I have nothing against old songs, even though I dont like them (songs from the 60's and 70's) But I feel that they are continually singing those types of songs!
There needs to be more variety.
Today's Gala round theme was Romance. I honestly thought there were so many romantic songs they could have sang, but I am very disappointed. Not just with this particular week, but with the season overall.
On top of having extremely untalented contestants, the horrible song choices make things even worse!

No it's not just you. This season is full of old songs and I find it very boring. Maybe that is why an average singer like Purvi is being pimped, she brings some modernness to the show.

Perhaps the target audience is older, hence Asha as judge? Bad choice because an older audience will not vote. I am very bored this season too.

Believe me it's not just you. I feel the same way. But then I think it's out of respect to Ashaji. I am not against old songs I just wish they would blend the modern songs along with some old songs. Because sometimes I really feel like I wanted to say something about a performance(s) but then if I dont know the song then I cannot have anything to say about it.

even i feel the same way. in the first 4 seasons (i didn't watch the 5th one) many 21st century songs were sung but in this season none, almost none. that's why it's a really boring season but i think poorvi is doing the most justice to these songs and i think she is the best singer of this season.

well i felt this year song choices for old songs r good but for newer not at all
people should know about foundation of industry nothing wrong with it
but funny part is they forget so many legends like in showmans they forgot bimal roy and guru dutt or even K asif --imagine that guy's film's poster even madhubala serial churaofyed in today's world and here we r discussing yash chopra and forget about his bro BR chopra
and then never ending kishore da but no mention of other talented singers
i feel this show is bit made as tribute to idols..just bec u dont like that genre of songs doesnt mean they were not good..no offence just my opinion

Well I am not against the idea of singing old songs. Its fine. But they're doing it in EVERY single episode and it gets kind of boring. I mean, there are some new good songs too, and when I say new I am referring to the 80-present time period.
But for some reason Indian Idol seems to be stuck in the 60's . They have sung some newer songs this week, but its not enough.
I am so close to not watching this anymore and just coming back during the finale time

What about not even mentioning Vshantaram or the father of indian cinema, Dada saheb phalke?

Actually, even i am getting tired of RDB and KK being mentioned ad nauseum.

KK has sung some really beautiful and fantastic songs, before his combo with RDB. esp his own movies like jhumroo and door gagan ki chhaon mein.

songs have evolved over the years. we have good songs nowadays too, but the 40s-60s were the golden era and the songs are not boring, they are timeless.
