NC Karunya Indian Idol finalist on singing for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's film

'Chopra's sister was upset because I had not become the Indian Idol'

How did you bag the offer of singing for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's sequel to Munnabhai MBBS?

Vidhhu Vinod Chopra was in USA when the results of Indian Idol came out and saw his sister crying. She was upset because I had not become the Indian Idol. She told him about me and then he approached me for the song.

Do you have any other project in hand?

I do have several things planned, but I'd rather that they are not mentioned right now. I am recording songs for some south Indian films on a daily basis. But Chopra's film will be my first release.

How has participating in Indian Idol affected your life? What about your engineering degree?

It has affected my life in a very positive way. I had always wanted to sing and now it has made me even more popular and given me ample opportunities to prove myself in the music industry.

As for my engineering degree, it's not something I did just for the heck of it. It is something I'm very passionate about. I have worked very hard for it so I'm going to complete it.

You mentioned in one of the episodes of the programme that being a South Indian might affect your chances of winning.

What do you have to say about that, now?

I did say that, because thrice I was on the verge of elimination, inspite of putting in my best efforts. I used to wonder what more I should do.

But now I have realised that there is no regionalism, otherwise I wouldn't have been among the top two. The response from the North has been amazing. In fact, I would love to visit Lucknow and perform there, if given an opportunity.

thanks for sharing pragya!!😃😃😃
