HI Guy's this is an article i saw in one of the websites which i thought you all can read and enjoy. The article goes like this:-

"Just finished watching Indian Idol 2 finals. There was only one winner, disappointment. Sandeep won but it was as if Udit Narayan winning the competition against Md. Rafi. Unfortunately, the state of Indian music is so bad that if Md. Rafi were to take part in Indian Idol, he could not make it into Gala rounds. This is the reality of Indian music which is right now in its pathetic state. It's about time we found some inspiration in our classical roots or looked into alternative music coming from across the border.

Sandeep is a good guy and that's where he scored brownie points. I remember when he first came for audition and was standing in line, Aman went to him and asked who will be selected and he said,"Bas sab achaa gayeein aur main bhi achaa gaun". The guy standing behind him started making fun of him saying, "Abey toh jeetega kaun agar sab achaa gayenge". I am not sure where is that idiot today. All the best to Sandeep and Congratulations to him but my Indian Idol came second this time and only time will tell who is the actual winner.

Vote for Karunya!!

I am hooked, booked and cooked to Indian Idol 2. I have never been so emotionally attached to a TV Show like this one. I have watched each and every episode with a passion. I have laughed, cried (not litreally) and sang (in my washroom-limited awaaz) with all the contestants. I had my favourites along the way and some kept on changing with each episode except for one singer, Karunya. I watched him closely for the first time during the Piano round when he sang the punjabi number, "Layi vi na gayee tee nibhayee bhi naa gayee..." from the movie Chalte Chalte originally sung by Sukhwinder Singh. I cannot tell you how many times I have watched that performance. I don't think even a punjabi can sing that song like Karunya did. He became the first person to get a standing ovation for that performance. I told my brother then and there to watch out for this guy, he will go way ahead and here he is in the final two. His next performance was the only weak performance till date when he sang, "Chak de saare gham..." from Hum Tum.

He made a grand entrance into Gala round with my all time favourite song, "Eh mere zohra-jabeen, tujhe maloom nahin. Tu abhi tak hain haseen aur main jawaan..."from the movie Waqt sung by Manna Dey. This was my favourite movie to watch with my grandfather and the song just brought so many memories along with it. His next song was a soft number from movie Hum Tum, "Sanson ko sanson se dhalne do zara..." He again showed his versatality with that one and that he is not just a hardcore classical singer but has range too. His next one was another of my favourite by legendary singer, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, "Koi jaane, koi na jaane ye parwane hote hain deewane...". If someone could pay tribute to Ustad Fateh Ali Khan Saheb then that was Karunya.

Next was the holi special and Karunya again choose a very different song, "Aay jaa re natkhat..."from the movie Navrang. As part of A R Rehman special he sang, "Tu Ramta Jogi..." from Taal, another Sukhwinder Singh number by a Hyderabadi. Next Gala round on 3rd April defined Karunya as the next Indian Idol in my view. His first song was the title song of Bunty aur Babli. His performance was outstanding to say the least. He actually looked like Abhishek Bachachan with an excellent voice. His next song was the one that showed his verstality, "Hum thee woh thee aur sama rangeen samajh gayee..." from Chalti ka naam gaadi. He performed that song with so much masti that even Kishore Da would have been proud of him.

In their last performance, Karunya's first performance was "Jahan teri yeh nazar hain. meri jaan mujhe khabar hain..."from the movie Kalia and Karunya again showed his X-Factor by throwing a rose at Farah Khan while singing. Karunya gave an ultimate gift to all his fans when he sang his last song, "Jhanak jhanak payal baje..." from Mere Huzoor by Manna Dey, which is based on Raag Darbari. This was the most tough and most risky song to choose because looking at the voting pattern it seems Indian-junta give a damn about classical songs. Most singers who sang classical based songs were voted out.

As far as Sandeep Acharaya is concerened, he is a good singer but he doesn't deserve to be in top 2. Amey Datey would have been a great top 2 and competitor to Karunya. Sandeep is good subsitute for Udit Narayan but not an Indian Idol. He is getting votes mostly because he is a North Indian. Karunya loses votes because he is a South Indian and hindi channels are not very popular in south. It's sad that in today's time too people vote based on regionality rather than talent. India still hasn't come out of its regionalism. Most people still associate themselves with their states rather than India as a country. You are a gujurati, punjabi, marathi, rajasthani first and then an Indian.

Apart from being a great singer, Karunya has an excellent knowledge of Indian classical music because of his background in Carnatic music. It's one thing that gives him edge over everyone including Amey Datey. It will be tragic of Karunya doesn't win this competition. Indian music itself is going through its worst phase. If Himesh Reshmaiyaah can win a Filmfare Award based on popularity, then what can one say about the state of music of the country. Also, mindless remixes are screwing the music scene of the country. Its just lowering the standard of music all over the country. Also, there is nothing new coming out of the music scene in India. Most popular bollywood songs are ripped of from Pakistan. Infact, Paki-rock bands are years ahead of Indian rock bands. Even small country like Nepal is churning out jazzy hip hop-songs (Thanks to Colors, I have been listening to some). All the best punjabi rock comes from UK. Who was the last different singer to come out of India? Maybe, Rabbi. It's just sad that in a country of billion people we have such a bad music scene.

I seriously believe that Karunya can be the next best thing to come out of India after a long long time. He needs our support. He needs our votes. Only South Indian votes cannot save him. He needs vote of each and every Indian. This is our chance to make a difference to music scene in India. This is a chance to kick out Himesh Reshmaiyan from all the channels. I am very passionate about this and hopefully my post will convey the same. So, it about time. It's time to vote.

Vote 1904424252502 for Karunya or you can sms Karunya on your cell and send it to 2525. I have send as many votes as I can send. The voting lines are open till Apr 18th, 9:40 pm IST. So, pick up your cool mobile phones and do the right thing. Vote for your next Indian Idol.

P.S: I feel very Sorry for Amey Datey though. He deserved better. He was not only a good singer but a great and geniune guy. I also liked Panna Gill and Monali among the other contestants. "
