Singer-turned-actor Sonu Nigam played big brother to the hilt, when a security guard verbally abused his sister.
Sonu's younger sister, Nikita Agam Kumar Nigam, also an upcoming playback singer, lives with Sonu at Versova.
A frequent visitor to her elder sister's residence at Dheeraj Gaurav Heights, Oshiwara, Link Road, she said she was humiliated at the way the security guard there spoke to her.
It is learnt that on May 7, Nikita had just entered the lift at her sister's building, when the security guard there allegedly told her, "'Kya re, tune visitor book mein entry kyon nahin kiya?" When Nikita replied, 'mein yahan apne behen ke ghar mein rahne ayi hoon', one of the guards rudely said, "Flat tere behen ka hai, tera nahin. Chal, lift se neeche utar. Yahan se nikal, nahin toh do bajata hoon tujhko ."
When Nikita informed Sonu about the incident, the angry brother arrived at the Oshiwara police station and with the assistance of the detection staff got hold of Ravi Singh, the security guard who had spoken to her. His colleague who was present at the time of the incident was also detained for inquiry.
Police said that this was the first posting for both the security guards. The security guard, Ravi Singh, however denied that he had abused Nikita.
However, the Oshiwara police have registered a non-consignable offence against Singh under section 504 IPC using (filthy and abusive language) and also detained his associate Hyder Hussain who was present when the incident occurred. They were let off after a stern warning.
Sonu refused to comment on the issue stating it was a personal matter
