Something I noticed

Although I am not keen on American Idol, being in the States American Idol cannot be avoided. One of the reason I dont like American Idol is that Simon Cowell is a prick...but thats besides the point.

What I noticed was American viewers prefer female singers and Indian viewers prefer male singers. Well Indian Idol is only in its second season and it is too early to judge, but its interesting to think on.

Past 4 American Idol winners Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie. 3/4 were women. Most of the top 12 were women. Wheras Indian Idol Season 1 there were only 2 in the top 12. Although there is more balance now there seem to be a lot more fans of male contestants like Amey, Karunya, Sagar, Sandeep in comparison to the female contestants. When taking pop in general too it seems the American market is flooded with female singers while the Indian marker is flooded with female singers.

What could be the cause of this vast and very interesting difference in tastes and preferences? Do western women and Indian men sing better or have more X-factor than their opposite sex counterparts? Just wondering!

its just there choice.. there are mainly girls on IF so we dont see many female supporters.. coz girls like drooling over the male contestents.. maybe if there were equal no. of guys and girls.. we would have a better umm thing

I think India mainly gals votes here & tehy obviously vote for X factor & looks more...I dont think any gal in india will say they like MONALI OR ANTARA more.....
May be tehy liek but that all will be second choice only...
First choice for every gal will be AMey panna saagr or karunya...sandeep too...

American Idol I think men too were crazy to watch teh show & vote for the fav there...I think male & female prefer gals than guys...also normally youth may be voting there & they will surely vote for gals I think....the important thing is they americans have given importance to gals in any fields....


IN our bollywood men scores more than woman & films are named beased on actors where as hollywood got much preference for gals too...they give equal imporatnce to all....


anyways In india its hard wto win for a male tahst a case....in SRGMP & II 1 there wont eb any gal in TOP 3...

well america isnt sexist first of all that they wouldnt let girls win! in US people look at EVERYTHING: the singing and the performance. in india it seems majority of the public only care about the contestants' sanskars and behaviors and performance 😡

Now statistically speaking both the United States and India have majority of female audiences. In the United States the reality show audience is mostly female whereas in India the male viewership is higher.

If we consider that girls vote for guys then American Idol winners should have been all male.
If we consider that Americans vote for the good looking...how did Ruben make it.

I am not sure what the reason is but IMHO the Indian audience still has a mindframe that major celebrity should be male. They are not yet to digest the 'female mega celebrity' notion. Both men and women in India seem to vote for the male celebrities.

I guess sanskar does count in India...but I am glad it does...because then Indian reality shows will be a bitch fest between contestants. Thank God that the Indian contestants have a more civil behavior and attitude.

Anyways.....I feel that till Indian audiences begin viewing male and female celebrities with some sort of equilibrium it will be always tipped in the male direction. Something for the girls in India to think of....because statistically they are the maximum consumers.
