There are times when I hear the singers of Indian Idol sing a song that brings back memories of another singer on a different reality show or even past seasons of idol singing the same song, so I thought why not we have a topic discussing raw talent all around

All I ask is please refrain from personal attacks to other members, noone needs the drama, we can all have differing opinions and still get along😊

I wanna start off with:

My View: Okay now don't let the better quality video of Yashraj's performance fool you, for me, Yashraj totally butched the feeling of the song. Raja's smile, little dances, his 'karari awaaz', he brought the song to life!

It felt as if Yashraj was singing from his throat and like Salim said, he was so CAUTIOUS on whether his surs were hitting or not that he forgot to care about the beauty of the song's music and lyrics.

For me, Raja is the win here.

My View: Bhoomi broke up the song, it didn't flow together nicely as Himani did it and she seemed out of breath throughout. Just like Yashraj, there was a complete lack of feel in this song and she seemed really bored with it. I also felt that she wasn't cleanly ending her lines, it felt incomplete as she broke the end of a line off and then started a new line.

Himani on the other hand, beautifully sung, gave full justice to it and what was so fantastic was the twist she added to it at the 'main toh baaz na aana ni' at 1:45, with the low dip on the word baaz. Beautiful endings to each line, clean and fresh!

For Me, Himani is the win here.

Totally with you on those two, Bahar. Raja Hassan and Himani are in a totally different league as compared to Yashraj and Bhoomi. In fact, there is no comparison at all!

Great topic, will come back when I think of a worthy comparison. :)

I wonder what Ranbir would have done had he heard Himani.
Though it was not in the video I remember Sanjay Leela Bhansali hugged Himani after her performance.

I wasn't at all impressed with Bhoomi's singing, it was very amateurish. She lost her sur in many parts, the breathes taken in betweenwere not proper. So far, she has been unable to give out a very impressive performance, according to me, especially when we compare the great performances given by the rest of the contestants on Indian Idol.

My View: I felt Amanat wasn't able to do justice to this song. Amanat not only lacked the power and strength for this song but even his own voice texture worked against him as the song required a more "manly" voice, which he just didn't have. He kept making those annoying hand gestures to demonstrate a parda, VERY distracting and didn't allow the listener/watcher to even enjoy the performance. Even the part where had had to sing quite fast and didn't have room to breathe, his struggle with it shone through with his small gasps and breaks.

Vinit was always my favorite in srgmp '05, his voice has a certain ahhhhhhh to it..such coolness as if you've swallowed an ice cube. He sang it with strength and power definitely and did his best to put the mood of the song across even though he wasn't in the "costume" like the others. It was a great effort, but the same thing with amanat, his voice texture just simply did not suit the mood of the song..though its of no fault of his of course.

Shivam, the manly voice, the rough texture, the perfect and not overly dramatic or distracting gestures. The easy flow from verse to verse. Flawless.

Shivam > Vinit > Amanat

For me, Shivam was the win.
