They are doing the American Idol style split. In which they will divide the Top 28 into two equal halfs. Guys & Girls. 14 Guys & 14 Girls. Finally 6 from the guys & 6 from the girls make the Top 12.

The only good thing is that they will have a decent amount of females than last years. The bad part is I think the girls are, IMO better than the guys this year :(

contestants shud be selected on the basis of their singing ability and not on their sex.

I agree that it should be singing ability but then the way girls can sing is different so that would make sense to give both of them a chance to be equal in the final 10 and then the best one wins

in what way.. if u r talking about their voice obviously its going 2 b different than tht of boys

but apart frm that i am sure the judges can tell who the better singer is or who sang better on tht particular day irrespective of whether the contestant is a boy or a girl.

i think its got more 2 do with following the american idol 2 format

The bad part is what if there is are 8-9 AMAZING girls/guys but not all get to make it because there can only be 6 of each sex. So thats why its not that great an idea IMO but we do get more females which is great.

They are following the American format which was recently adopted by the Pan Arabic Idol.
