Hello everyone!

This time among the many other changes in the II format there is a new feature in the form of selecting the performer of the week....Its a great way to appreciate the best singer by the judges who definitely have a profound opinion as compared to public but I think this might have a negative impact on the voting of the selected singer! A singer who is applauded by the judges has all chances of loosing out on votes.....The normal human behavior is to vote for others thinking everyone would be voting for the performer of the week...and if everyone thinks that way the performer of the week gets no votes!

1. Was it a good idea to incorporate this feature?

2. Could we expect a major upset in the coming weeks where the performer of the week gets eliminated?

3. If something like 2 happens, what would this reflect about the II format where it could not save the best singer of the week from elimination?

I think this could disrupt the whole environment of the show...and could be very disturbing and discouraging for good singers!

Suggestion:
Maybe putting the performer of the week in a safe zone where he/she could not be eliminated in the next week would be a better idea....That would ensure the best singer is retained and in my opinion is a fair way of improving the ultimate choice of Indian Idol!

~Ria

Hello everyone! Hellooo.. :)

This time among the many other changes in the II format there is a new feature in the form of selecting the performer of the week....Its a great way to appreciate the best singer by the judges who definitely have a profound opinion as compared to public but I think this might have a negative impact on the voting of the selected singer! Oh my.. I think there is a possiblity of that to happen.. 😕
But then, this wasn't the case in DID.. the "Performer of the Week" always got the highest votes.. but, once again.. I've always felt that DID votes are rigged(just my opinion) .. oh well..
I'm getting a little bit scared now.. 😕 hope the best performer doesn't get eliminated. There's also a possibility that the winner of POTW might actually be safe cos of various reasons.. lets see what happens anyways..

1. Was it a good idea to incorporate this feature? For now.. I'm gonna remain positive, so.. yes.. it was a BRILLIANT idea. 👍🏼 The singers actually get to know where they stand in "professional's" eyes and that's gonna make a huge impact on them.. 😳 It's gonna make 'em much more competitive. 🤔 Sometimes contestants tend to get a little arrogant when they fare at public votings, so.. this format of POTW might check their behaviour too.. 😳

2. Could we expect a major upset in the coming weeks where the performer of the week gets eliminated? Like I said.. I want to remain positive for now.. and thus, NO! 😛

3. If something like 2 happens, what would this reflect about the II format where it could not save the best singer of the week from elimination? I don't think this would reflect ANYTHING 'bout the format.. it would infact reflect how narrow-minded ppl are in supporting their favs no matter what!! 🥱

Suggestion:
Maybe putting the performer of the week in a safe zone where he/she could not be eliminated in the next week would be a better idea....That would ensure the best singer is retained and in my opinion is a fair way of improving the ultimate choice of Indian Idol! 100% agree with you on this! 😃

Ria.. I think this wouldn't affect the votings of the public. Amazing amazing.. DESERVING contestants have been ousted over trash.. inspite of judges praising them to heights. 😆 And introducing this format actually shows the public who is deserving what(especially by rating 'em as #1, #2 etc) .. so mostly, there are chances that the public would vote for such deserving ones... BUT, there's still a possibility of what you said.. 😃

i wud have preferred the performer of the week being safe from eliminations next time...that wud have been better
however i think this time anu malik managed to convince the channel walas i guess to give judges veto power...so lets see how that works

@Angel: Loved your views....they have optimism written all over them and I hope things go as positively as you predicted...I would hate to see a Sreeram or a Kawa getting eliminated after such stupendous performances....

@Yipee: Thankyou 😊 I am still not sure if that Veto thingy is getting implemented here or not...they did not say anything of that sort on the show...however this time around they are keeping things under wraps until its time to disclose them....so lets see if we have another new feature (veto) coming our way

I actually liked the idea, it is common on Sa Re Ga Ma and some other musical shows. It shows there is something judges can do to show that this singer deserves the votes.
Heard somewhere once, that 25% of votes these contestants get r usually from ppl who don't like to have favorites or only limites to favorites.
Also, this will encourage singers to do well and they will feel they are being rewarded for their hard work.

woow nice suggestion👍🏼

. i think the creative head mite had thot abt it but II is also sumwt a business. II earns alot thru the votes. so mayb by putting 1 in totally safe zone will cut away his votes n consequently a loss of money.

thats onli how i think they did the best performer n not ur gr8 suggestion.

Ria ..u have raised some wonderful questions and I think the judges would incorporate such a rule ...like chhotey Ustaad ..That's why singer like Anwesha was saved and we got to witness the best grand finale ever in any reality shows !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Moreover I think/hope Judges wouldn't let their decision being over ruled by Junta ...so they might eliminate one who receives least number of votes after the best performer ( incase the best performer is under the chopping block)...................
II format has undertaken a makeover ..for better .....and I hope they address the elimination issue as well....
Great topic .....👏👏👏

Very good point ....so true ..if they save the best performer safe next week ...then that performer might not get votes at all......and II thrives on SMS and calls ................

It should be like this.. the bottom 4 contestants should be based on votes, and one from this 4 should be eliminated by the judges.. 😳

good suggestion but i don't think they will change the format of the show as it is strictly what happens in all Idol Franchise shows. They can't change the elimination process or format.
