The race for the Idol crown
here are still seven weeks to go before the winner of Indian Idol 5 is announced. But clearly the guys are far superior to the two girls. While both Bhoomi and Tia are charming, their inconsistent singing and weak voices indicate that they simply don't stand a chance.
This year, the winner will be guy as all the five guys have good voices. In terms of versatility and consistency, the choice is clearly between Shivam and Shreeram. While Shivam's impish charm has endeared him to all the stars, his sweet voice has earned him many female fans. But when it comes to mastery over the craft, Shreeram is far superior. Every song of his has been sung from the heart and he leaves you spellbound after each session. Hema Malini was the guest this week and the lady was her usual charming self and thoroughly enjoyed her outing. She sportingly gave gaon ka gora Swaroop Khan advice on how to woo a woman by renacting a scene from Satte Pe Satte (where she imparts lessons on the art of wooing to her brothers-in-law through the song Jhuka ke sar ko pucho).Swaroop had everyone in splits when he confessed that he had never heard the word girlfriend till he came to Mumbai and his dream girl would be the one chosen by his parents. Unfortunately, as endearing as Swaroop is, Naushad is a far better singer so his ouster from the show came as a shock to the judges. In fact, an upset Sunidhi Chauhan walked out and later confessed that she had no issues with Swaroop but felt that Naushad should not have been eliminated. But, there is only going to be one winner so how does it matter who goes right now? Hope-fully, the audience will have the sense to choose either Shivam or Shreeram cos these are the only two who deserve to make it to the top two.
Looks like our Indian cricket captain follows Swarrop's mantra for it is believed that had the family not pressurised the man, he may not have tied the knot with Sakshi. But unlike the Abhi-Ash drama, this was clearly a closed door affair and the only pictures that the television channels got were that of an empty resort and they clearly looked like file shots. The desperation for exclusive footage was such that they grabbed the ghodiwallah and the sehrawallah for sound bytes. And that's how you got to know that the ghodiwallah was paid Rs 5001 and the sehrawallah Rs 10,000. There were relatives scurrying around, getting in and out of cars but nobody was willing to go on record. And thankfully, the genuinely publicity shy Dhoni (unlike others who pretend they hate the publicity but ensure that every detail is leaked to the media) ensured that the one-day wedding was a truly low-key affair. Not surprisingly, the next day channels were back to covering news again!
