Torsha lacks versatility

I had been intending to post this for a while and yesterday's performances reinstated this fact.

Torsha's performances to date have lacked the variety and versatility that is very clearly evident in ,say, Sourabhee's performance.

I feel she always picks the same kind of songs and whenever she attempts a so called fast number, that sounds exactly the same as any of her other performances in terms of the rendition , expressions etc.

Even when she attempts some 'performance' , it really looks strange what with her weird expressions and forced steps.

Contrast this with Sourabhee. She won my heart when she sang "kachche dhaage" in the first round and her performances after that have never been unidimesional. The difference in yesterdays "tere mere" and "crazy kiyaa re" is there for all to see.

Let's leave Kapil out of this discussion. Though i kind of like him, i have to admit he is not in the same league as the other two contestants.

Whats up? Crazy Kiya Re was not shown in US. I had to watch it online and I agree she sang and danced very well. But Torsha for a change was very competitive today though her dancing is not up to mark. But this is not a dance show. For dances you should turn to Dance India Dance. What fantastic dancers and what fantastic choreography specially by Terence. How is it possible with the same Indians Zee consistently lands better singers and dancers whereas SET is just razmatazz??

i agree torsha cant sing all kinds of songs...only certain kinda songs suit her but still shes got an awesome voice..n such voices r hard to find..so i think u should appreciate her in that aspect..n yesterday she did choose a tough song which was sung very well and i found her performance sexy..lol

sourbhee is good she takes up challenges..n shes very consistent...well but yesterday her performance was fine..not that good..she did slip a wee bit in her first song...n in the 2nd song i dint really love her singing..she was okay in singing , she has sung much much better in her earlier song..(guess she was a little nervous i could see that)..but her attitude,performance was too good!! torsha n kapil cant beat her in that aspect at all!! shes too good while performing....shes an indian idol!!

n kapil is so so i dont like his singing and he is expressionless..overall a very dull performance

lets hope that people realise that we need a good singer and dont just vote to keep kapil in. I think you are right Tosha has a long way to go before she can be a complete package.

Torsha has never been in the best performer or singers league of Indian Idol and when Javed Akhtar said that this has been the finest performance i thought he was very biased.
Even when he was asked who would u like to be the next Indian idol he said Torsha.
Is it just the voice quality that matters and not the sur,performance and consistency.
Then why not base the competition on who has the most distinct voice !

Sorry, We are not talking of dance here. I am not calling Sourabhee more versatile than Torsha just because she can dance/perform better. It is purely the expression in her singing that i am talking about. She just doesnt have it in her to carry off a peppy or fast number - she somehow sings it in exactly the same way that she sings her slow / melodious songs.

Think of Amit Paul in the last season. He was never a 'performer' in the sense that he never danced or moved around on stage. But versatile - he sure was. He could carry off any song in any style with elan.

We all know that Indian Idol should be a complete package and so on. But apart from Karunya no one has been close to that!!! Complete package should also include a unique voice and not just a good voice. Sourabhee does not have that so she should not be called a complete package??? Thats what I think of this complete package term!!!

One can pull some negatives about sourabhee as well if one wants to but thats not the way it should be!!! Sourabhee is an amazing singer and will be a deserved winner.

Its all relative guys. You like someone then like them. But to put someone down just because he/she is not the one you like aint the way coz at this point no one is the 'complete package' because there is no such thing as a 'complete package'

I think both Torsha and Sourabhee are versatile singers but i find Torshas voice more unique and different. I m not saying she is a bad singer she has a great voice but Torsha is more unique

tum ne mere mann ki baat cheen li.. i completely agree.. that is what i have always felt.. even in this season, Rajdeep, Prasenjit and Bhavya were good but i still find the range that Karunya had missing..
