Imo they all have to earn money after the show right. If being an actor gives them more control over their career, they can possibly get better singing opportunities.

Is there a Broadway or West End equivalent in India? It combines both drama and musical thus gives an alternate career choice.

That was the ultimate combination for acting and musicals. We would have probably had actor-singers like Hollywood by now had the corporate world not taken over the industry in the 2000s and started to ruin the music scenario...the disaster that we see today.

English-language theatre does a lot of musicals, with shows in NCPA, Prithvi Theatre etc. But theatre isn't as well-paid in India as it is abroad. Hence, theatre personalities tend to do films and TV shows for better income.

Traditional folk theatre forms of India used to flourish at one time..Bhavai from Gujarat, Tamasha in Maha, Jatra in Bengal..lost traditions now

I m not a Bengali..so don't know the details..but have seen forms of jatra during cultural fests in my apt..it's a multilingual place. So small scale par hi sahi kuch idea milta hai
