My take on this season

Definitely I feel this season is by far the best. Mainly because all are at least between 95 and 99%.. Very difficult to chose. However, a few can raise above the rest due to the X-factor they bring which makes audience to go wild! This is why I believe no one can stop Dhanish or SMP reaching the finals. There are like only 3 or 4 slots left to fill. Can Sawaii make it? He forgot lyrics very badly on one occasion and some say his pronunciation is not that good. Asish also forgot lyrics on one occasion. Will judges still keep that in mind while choosing the finalists? So among the rest clean bill of health can only be given to Arunita and Pawandeep. So 4 are for sure. Rest we have to wait and see. Just my take and JMHO.

Also the top 5 can be easily predicted already - SMP, Danish, Pawandeep, Arunita with either Ashish (undeserving) or Sayli at number 5.

The 5th spot is the only one we can argue.

Best season between 10, 11, and 12 was easily 10. All 5 imo in season 10 deserved to make the finale. Season 11 was questionable with Adriz making the finale over Shazaan and of course the overhyping of Sunny's singing. Season 12 is just sucking up and partiality. Only few singers are deserving of finale and those (Nachiket, Sayli) that aren't judges favorites are being overlooked.

Season 10 was the best.

Singers like Ashish would n t have lasted till so long, Nihal would never have been selected, Danish would have struggled against the likes of Salman and Nitin.

The only unfair elimination in that season was Soumya Chatterjee who was viewed as a threat to Salman Ali.

Nachiket is the best of this season but is underestimated and treated unfairly to promote the lesser talented.

Season 10 hands down! The contestants were so good that they held it together for nearly 6 months!

The Judges or Channel (or both) always seem to have a top contender in mind. They are less focused on the other 4 that make the top 5. That will allow some with merit and some with huge popularity to fill up the slots. Whether the choice wins is not in their hand. Arunita herself is an example. Last year they wanted a different winner in Super Dancer and Super Singer - they failed. This may be the year they fail in Indian Idol. That is what I think will happen.

This season has turned out to be the worst in so many ways. All the drama, biases, repetitions are so freaking transparent.

Season 10 was the best. Not only were all the singers extremely talented, even the judges wouldn't do so much drama.

The only complaint I had from that season was the way they hyped up Salman, who was also very genre restricted, and how Saumya got eliminated because he was a threat to Salman.

The only singers from season 12 who would've survived that season would be Arunita and Sahil.

The rest wouldn't stand a chance:

Danish and Sawai would have to face Salman and Nitin

Nachiket would have to defeat Ankush

Sayli, Sireesha and Anushka would be head to head with Neelanjana

SMP's competition would be Avanti (who imo had a lovely voice), Vibhor and Kunal, all tough singers and way superior to her

Pawandeep Ashish Anjali Nihal Vaishnav wouldn't have stood a chance.

Samyak would be rejected in the audition round itself.

I think there were other issues with Soumya unrelated to his undoubted singing ability or his ability to win the show. To the best of my knowledge there were background issues which made it difficult for Sony to continue with him, especially as he was a potential winner. It was a tough job to eliminate him - and I don't think Sony will want to repeat the experience.

I believe Saumya was eliminated because he went away from his classical roots and he couldn't sing normal songs as well as Neelanjana or Ankush. Their variety in singing is what got them to the finale deservedly. However I can't say the same thing about contestants like Ashish, SMP, Anjali, Sawaii, Nihal.

I think it should be the other way

Nachiket is not only a crooner but a singer as well.

He is versatile willing to experiment, is trained classically.

Ankush was relatively a weak singer till the TMKOC episode, he used to play the sympathy card way too often, would pretend to be the fan of every celebrity guest and occupy screen space and jig around with them, he used to dream of Neha and would get to sing more songs. Neha would weep bucket of tears and was one of her favourite. There was a halo around him because of his huge fan base. Nilanjana was better between the two.

I’ve got to agree. I wasn’t a big fun of Ankush’s singing, but did feel bad because of his eye condition and lack of funds to treat it.

I also think it was his chocolate boy looks that helped him get ahead.

But now when I’m watching him on IMPL, he’s really grown as a singer. He’s still not my favourite but I’d consider him a fine singer now.
