the reason the forum is dying (my theory)

okay guys, i know that lately we've all been extremely blah about the forum and the show. i know i myself have, and there are a number of reasons for my feelings in particular. and i know that i'm definitely not the only one, so i'm hoping to speak for a bunch of us when i voice my opinions here.

i know that in my case, the reason i'm not as passionate about the forum/show as i used to be is because the videos have stopped. granted, there are written updates and everything, which is great. but there are various issues with those too:

a) the updates give us a very basic understanding of what is going on in teh show, so basically i know the story, but i don't knwo the nuances that come with dialogue delivery, mannerisms, etc. basically, having no access to videos means an incomplete understanding of the show. there are so many incidences on teh forum, when ppl who have watched the episode talk about specific things that the characters have done, adn most of us who do not have the privilege of watching the episode are unable to participate.

I had mentioned in a previous post that i have noticed our old video updater posting videos on other forums, so if someone like a moderator could request him/her to come back to our forum, then that might be a start. the other thing that someone mentioned was putting up images from teh shows, hey, it's better than nothing.

b) many times, teh updates are given, but they are so poorly written that it is impossible to decipher what teh writer is trying to convey. i myself have gotten so frustrated with the updates that many times i'll just give up and stop reading them halfway through, because i can't understand what the updater wants to say. a lot of times there is no punctuation whatsoever, furthermore, many times someone will post an update, and it sounds like one super duper long sentence, with no paragraphs or anything that makes it easier to read. not to mention shortened phrases that sometimes are impossible to decipher. it's amazing, because you'd think that internet lingo is universal, but not on this forum apparently.

i know that i'm complaining like crazy, and many of you may be wondering that if these things bother me so much, then why don't i do something about it myself, but the fact of the matter is that this is a forum. which means, that it is there to help ppl who do not have access to tv's or these channels. so, through my complaints, i'm just makign suggestions that will be helpful for the progress of the forum. please do not take them in a negative way.

does anyone agree with me or have any other suggestions better than mine?

i agree bout the video updates, we r not having a video updater rite now and suruchi who use to post before posts in too many sections. so it mite not be possible for her to post here. i will pm her though but yaar c'mon lets give her sum space. she was not well as we all know and i certainly dun want to pressurize her.
i asked tania too but she is having probs as she isnt getting starone but she said she cud get it by next week. so i think lets wait.

I disagree on ur part for written updates. our updaters takes a loads of pains to write a whole episode update.
its wrong to judge on their gramatical mistakes.
they mite not have time but still just to tell wat happened in the show they write the episode to give u the outline of the show.
i think u shud appreciate them and their work and if u have any questions reagrding the show and update tht u dun understand u can alwayz make a post and ask in the forum. i msure many ppl willl be thir to clarify ur doubts.

as far as video updates r concerned, as i tole u before i will ty to work it out and hopefully we will get the video updates by next week.

hey kudi420, please don't get me wrong, it's not that i don't appreciate teh written updates, and please, i'm not criticizing ppl's grammar (i know mine isn't perfect either). i'm not a teacher or anything, but if the written updates are so bad that one can't even understand what the writer is trying to say, then that's quite sad. all i'm asking for is that please make the writing easy to understand. half the time, the author will write something that sounds so convoluted and twisted, like "n adi said so to chand so she came to ami n beeji was crying n vid d one n kabir who was also there n den no one understood n so she said chand was unhappy" and i'm like what????!!!! see what i mean?

it's not askign for too much is it? i know that the updaters do put in a lot of time, and i totally appreciate it, but if they're putting in time to update the show, then it doesn't take that much longer to write the update in a coherent way. otherwise, ppl aren't able to read their update that they've already put so much time into, adn then it's a waste, a lose-lose situation. i hope you see where i'm coming from.

as far as videos go, i guess i could be more patient. but i thought i'd still voice my feelngs.

good that ppl are coming forward and making themselves heard here...... I think video updates will help a lot but we cant do anything unless we have a fixed updater like some forums have.........

I agree with you on this. The so called "internet lingo" gets on my nerves. Every word is shortened or so badly twisted that it doesn't make sense. I agree if its a long word, like beacuse -- bcoz or birthday -- bday, but even a small word like 'then' becomes 'den' & 'with' becomes 'vid'. We have to do a double-take to understand it. I am thankful that the updaters have been generously putting in a lot of effort but it wouldn't take more than a second to type just one character extra-- 4 as in 'With' instead of 3 as in 'vid'.

ummmm i think everybody have an opinion about everything just like myself. however i think that if we continue to complain about people's grammer and spelling mistakes...then pretty soon no one would want to update anymore (just like the videos). i mean seriously guys these updaters are doing us a favor and i dont think its right to judge the way they write. that just wrong. and if you think that the updaters arent helpful to you then maybe it's time for you spend a little bit of money and get yourselves these channels. i am not saying this to be funny or mean in any way, but come on let's not be so unthankful.

silverfool, either you can't read or you have a selective memory (sorry, but your post has certainly pissed me off, and i can't help but make these comments), because in my numerous posts in this thread, I have mentioned several times that a) i'm not trying to complain, i'm just making some helpful suggestions, and b) if you go back and check my previous posts, i have mentioned that i am grateful for the written updates. i have also mentioned that i do not intend for my comments to be taken negatively, so please don't do that.
as far as spending money on the channels goes, i really would appreciate it if you could refrain from passing judgements on ppl who don't have this channel, unjustly assuming that the reason we don't have it is because we don't want to spend the money on it. it's not a matter of money, but availability. i am aware that star one is available to certain people, but not to me.
