🤣🤣🤣 We used to ask ourselves the same question when we were watching in real time😆.
Gul was totally hands off from this show for most of those 250 or so epis and it was indeed a blessing for the show.
A lot of the credit goes to the natural acting from the original cast, especially GM and ST....I mean it's like a day and night difference between what the show became later as you can tell I think😆

Absolutely, and I am rather struck by how innocent ST looks in these scenes. Of course, TV acting takes a toll on all actors and they look like zombies by the end of 200 episodes😆 But she looks...IDK how to say but so charming and raw here, which is how it is meant to be. And Aditya being this tall, gallant, yet son-of-the-soil type is a perfect complement to her in these scenes.

She had just turned 17 when she started the show I believe and it helped that they let her play her age in the story since Imlie was also 18 when the story started so it all looked very natural rather than rushing to sexualize her or the storyline in anyway.
For a major part of the beginning epis, everyone used to reference her young age in the story as well unlike how they turned it later after 310 epis into instantly sexualizing her to take it more in the typical Gul zone.
That is why you are finding her so fresh and raw in those early epis cuz back then the makers for whatever reason still had some class in not rushing to sexualize a girl so young. Clearly it wasn't meant to last😆
Aditya-Imlie's story is one of this beautiful chasteness in the midst of so much complication, convolutions. And Original Imlie was a force of nature who drove the narrative single-handedly....she never needed a savior or a knight in shining armor....lol

BOLD- Exactly, I am so turned off the HAWT scenes that they make these teens and barely legal adolescents do. I tend to avoid these like a plague. I actually saw some posts yesterday criticizing the makers for introducing "older" looking women for S2😳- which I guess translates into women in their 20's and 30's. I am comfortable with the latter but not the fetishizing of teen girls that some serial waale and fans resort to.
ITALIC: YESSS! And that is what true empowerment is. Of course, it is always better to have support systems, but a man is never the harbinger of true self-growth and development of self-worth which happens on the inside. The male savior complex just puts me off.

@bold: Same here....this is part of why I dropped Patiala Babes also when they rushed to do the same with barely 16 year old Ashnoor. It's hell creepy how this has all been normalized that 16-18 year old girls are doing these grand "hawt" scenes all as part of the typical ITV FL package deal.
And yes it's super ironic that now people in their 20s and 30s are being age-shamed by those who feel only teenage prodigies should be allowed to act in all shows😆
Male savior complex is what Gul tries to show in some form or the other in all her stories....lol in Adilie's story, Imlie used to be the one who saved him many times so that trope was kinda reversed in an interesting way that this petite si spitfire was the one saving the grown mountain of a man from village mobs, gunde and whatnot....lol....Adi saved her too but he didn't do in the typical flashy way of a typical Gul ML....lol
