thanks for writing this ❤️. For those of us who missed (thankfully) the early imlie episodes we were a bit oblivious as to the rationale behind this episode. I fast forwarded the whole thing to be honest. but your perspective is so helpful and made me feel better :)

For all those to whom today's episode didn't make a sense, here are some excerpts from the written update of past episodes, which will help you to get why makers had to bring in this kaamwali Imlie back. Those who wish can watch the episodes to get more feel of Imlie's insult.

Imlie 10th July 2021 - After finishing pheras, he announces that he is Imlie’s husband and wants his parent’s blessings, Imlie accepted him after a much difficulty and even they should accept Imlie. Aparna asks how can he marry a servant. Adi says Imlie was not a servant and became one for him, she is Imlie Aditya Kumar Tripathi. Aparna says their identity will not change by changing name, Adi may consider Imlie as his wife, but for her Imlie is a servant. She throws water on fire and says she doesn’t consider this marriage. He says he made her a good son and human and didn’t know she can think this way. Aparna says if he had a bitt of humanity left in him, he wouldn’t have betrayed his wife for a servant. Adi says informed truth to Malini long ago and is informing them. He asks Harish if he will not confront Aparna. Harish says he thought Imlie is true and innocent, but she is not; a girl who can have an affair with a married man, can never be true.

Imlie 12th July 2021 - Aparna warns Imlie to stop crying as they will not fall for her crocodile tears, she remembers how she followed all married woman’s rituals hiding and continued even after Malini’s warning, and asks if her mother taught her to go to city and trap rich innocent men. Imlie says she never stayed by wish here, her amma cried when she left her home, she stayed here due to their immense love and never wanted to hurt them and Malini. Aparna says she just knows to talk, they are all unhappy because of her, her deeds revealed her intentions, they made a big mistake by showering their love on her and pitying on her as they didn’t know that they were feeding milk to a snake.

After reading through the written updates of the above episodes, I now feel that more than Aditya, it is Aparna who had wronged Imlie and infact, more than Malini, she is the reason why Aditya turned against Imlie later. Hence it is important for the makers to show who is the real chameleon and why Imlie cutting all ties with Aparna is important for her to move on completely. Also, replay of similar past episodes teaches on how a parent's improper and proper guidance can change the way the child treats their partner. Aparna going against Imlie gradually forced Aditya to change his perceptions. Narmada being supportive of Imlie in her fight for identity prompted Aryan too to change his perception, but in the right way.

I've joined the show after Shiddat. And then did an episode marathon starting from Aryan's entry to the latest. So I only had an idea about show's premise which I didn't like. I never appealed to me.

So I have no idea how each character behaved before except whatever gist I got from reading different posts on the forum. And out of all Ts, it was Aparna receiving most of the criticism.

Your post just made me fully understand why. Thanks for sharing these details👍🏼

I know.. It will happen soon. I remember all their past shows like IPKKND, Ishqbaaz and Qubool hai. They all had forced weddings and then had whole romance wala consent wala wedding too. I bet in the next Arylie wedding imlie herself will insist that Aryan puts mehendi on her like he did this time but infront of everybody.

After going through the WUs of some more old episodes, I now thoroughly believe that along with imparting the social messages it had, the makers also wanted the TRP viewers rewind back to the episodes where Imlie was dressed up in a western dress and embarrassed in public by Aditya's family (except Rupi & Nishant) and colleagues. This happened after Aditya all of a sudden realises that he loves Imlie, confess it to Malini and family and then decides to introduce Imlie as his wife to his colleagues, to which Aparna was completely against of. Malini who initially had become pro-Adilie, by the influence of the 2 mothers, Anu & Aparna, by that time had started plotting against Imlie to separate Adilie. She tricks Imlie from not wearing the saree Aditya buys for her and Imlie who had no idea of her sister trying to backstab her falls into Malini's trap and ends up wearing an attire she was not comfortable with, added with high-heels & heavy makeup done by Malini. This brings lots of mockings and insults to Imlie from people around, with the function ending up in an Adini dance. Aditya did stand up for Imlie against all these mockings and all, but he used Imlie's state- topper & scholarship achievements to retaliate, instead of accepting Imlie for the person who she is. I think, it's because of the change in actor that makers couldn't show all these a flashbacks and give a practical monologue on why Imlie was hesitant to wear the dress. And moreover, I think they wanted to show the difference in the Adini-phase Imlie and the current Imlie. The former one was dependent on Aditya and had a more submissive nature while he current Imlie is being shown as a fighter, though she gets weak some times. Also, the makers wanted to show the difference between Aditya and Aryan. Imlie 'humari patni hai' was the identity Aditya wanted to give Imlie. While Aryan proved what barabari ka relationship means, understood and supported her when she wants to have her own identity.

Execution wise if they had planned it better, I am sure the makers could have gelled it well with the current track. Nevertheless I would consider the Sunday episode a standalone episode, as it was necessary to be shown the difference between the Rathores and Tripatis & past and current Imlie.

Like I said before, I don't know about the pre-aryan phase and important scenes. And I think I'm not alone. There are many who joined the forum after Aryan's entry. So only when someone draws a parallel, we can know.

But the execution is falling flat in this case because as you pointed out, they can't show previous scenes with a different face cause it doesn't make sense. And they will have to then re-shoot those scenes which is also not plausible.

Bold - I think this is a major drawback the makers are facing in drawing parallels when similar situations from the past are repeated now. Even today's Aryan's trust and support scene must be in parallel to some old incidents. It would have been more impactful if they could show these differences through flashbacks. It would have even reduced lots of bashings for Imlie and the makers from Arylieans who feel like some episodes/scenes are unnecessary.

Though I really wish they would spend some time reshooting these important scenes at least, to keep the integrity of the storytelling. I remember when they changed Riddhima in DMG, they reshot many landmark scenes so they could show important flashbacks. But that was over a decade ago. Does ITV still work that way? 😕

I take very long breaks from ITV. But whenever I come back, zyada kuch badla dekhai nae deta. Sab same same hi. Even remix gaano ki trha reboots a chuke hain shows k🤪

But seriously if they had reshot certain powerful scenes, the impact wouldn't have lost like now. Bit they don't have budget for Rathore mansion, scenes Kya reshoot kren ge😆
