I know this scene is being discussed in the daily updates thread, but I thought a seperate thread would do a proper justice to this iconic scene.

For years we've seen the protagonists in ITV being mahaan tyaag ki murat, always ready to self sacrifice for family, take blames for all that goes wrong, and take responsibility to make everything right.

They've the responsibilities ranging from keeping the family intact, resolve all internal struggles between different family members, bringing bhatka hua pati back to track, earn back pride and wealth of family after they've been dramatically overtaken by the villian... to barge into operation theatres and save their dying husbands with their magical tears...

Now, coming to imlie, as she has done all these for the Tripathi's and much more. what did she get in return?

All the things she listed in her sorry list are worth million apologies from the Tripathi's to her.

The fact that she herself had to do it on their behalf gives a strong message, she never considered herself different from that house even after all the pain and humiliation, but this simple act has finally done it, broken away Tripathi from the name of Imlie and liberated her from a completely toxic relationship (and I just don't mean with adi.)

It also says that she does not expect an apology from her perpetrators anymore, she's liberated them from the burden and also that they will never be able to make it up to her in this life.

For me this scene truly signified the title imlie, she did justice to herself by apologising to herself and took responsibility of all that happened wrong with her without playing the victim card.

It also gives me hope that she takes responsibility to her future happiness as well.

Totally agree with everything.

The last few minutes were breathtaking and deserve applause👏.

As it is shown on ITV for decades now I am glad to see something different for a change (even in Anupama). Going away from the same old perfect bahu criteria was necessary.

By forgiving herself she needs to redeem her self-respect and learn from her past mistakes. Hopefully, she can become an example for more women in the show and in the real world.

It was a rare monologue that was far overdue. Sumbul did a great job.
