Okay today starts with day 1 of BBC & my god it was an episode filled with drama, villains, tensions and of course sasuma's taunts😆. While it was as cringey as expected, we got the scenes we asked for, albeit with minimal token conversations.
The episode starts with Imlie asking her Sita Maiyya if she had forgotten Imlie and if she can show thodi kripa on her as well in these trying times. Wow, we finally got to see Imlie talking to her SM after such a long time, I was so excited to see her. In the meanwhile, pehle task ka letter comes home and ofcourse it is a cooking competition and to mimic the pehli rasoi rasam, the contestants are supposed to cook in their full wedding finery. More than the cooking, I assume that the actual competition was cooking with all those wigs and hair flying around while wearing those heavy duty shaadi ke jode. My god poor things😆. Anyway, since Pallavi is a professional baker, the family & even Imlie is excited and sure that Pallavi yeh round pakka jeetegi.
As the conversation shifts to discussion about the shaadi ka joda, Radhaji preens that since they chose Pallo's shaadi ka joda, she will wear it and show it off to everyone. When the focus shifts to Imlie, isme as usual, Aparna had to taunt her bahu like a typical sasuma saying that she will wear what Gaon ki ladkiyan wear to phasao sheher ke ladke - now slowly Aparna's taunts are shifting more into the wounded mom whose son has got her a bahu she does not like, yet she is cute while trying to be mean. It is like a teddy bear trying its best to look like a grizzly bear, not working. Anyway, humare Adi kaise chup reh sakte hai. As usual tapak pade to defend his wife, to which PT gives him practical advice that Imlie is going to be hearing much worse in the outside world. It looked like they were almost desensitizing Imlie to the taunts she would be getting, not knowing that she has been through much worse. Anyway, Pallavi gives her a pep talk to ignore everybody and just focus on doing her best in this round.
Anyway, Adi tries to assure her that he will get her a new shaadi ka joda. Haye yeh sunke dil mein future mein thodi taam jaam ki shaadi ke expectations jaag gayi, but as usual Imlie shot that down immediately with her declaration that she is going to wear her own shaadi ka joda. Matlab yeh ladki BS ko kanhoos ka hi kanjoos rehne degi, she will not allow him to spend one penny on her. Oh well, moving on.😆 Imlie explains to him with the new joda she will not get the pheels of being a suhagan. She tells him that her shaadi ka joda has her memories attached to it, be it good or bad and those memories are what is going to drive her to do her best and win BBC, so she will wear that joda only to the competition.
So we are taken to the next day, which is day 1 of BBC. As usual, everyone is commenting on how pretty the reigning champion is and how nice she looks in the shaadi ka joda. Then the gossip starts, where they wonder where the T's are and how Imlie is going to look. Uspe entry marti hui aati humari Radhaji with her pretty bahu Pallavi, who is announced to be a profession baker. As usual as they start to ask for Aparna's bahurani (I am telling you, this society aunty is going to be the one to convince Aparna to start calling Imlie her bahurani, kitni baar she is conditioning Aparna with that word😆) Yahhan entry marte hue with her "Imeliya" BG score, aati hai humari bahu Imlie wearing her shaadi ka joda and introducing herself to everyone as Imlie Tripathi and asks everyone to learn her name & some tameez as well.
Aparna recognizes the joda immediately (kya paarkhi nazar) and remebers that she wore it in Adi & Malini's wedding. She as usual accuses Imlie of wearing it that day to jamao her haq on Adi. Imlie reminds her that usne haq nahi jamaya, in fact she gave away her haq & sindoor. Aparna gets an FB of Imlie giving that PD sindoor for Adi and Malini and realizes that Imlie did infact give her sindoor away that day to Malini. Imlie reminds her that today she is wearing this joda again just to win back her haq and the family's izzat as this joda represents her elders blessings for her. Anyway, Imlie takes Aparna's blessings, leaving her feeling all emotional and welled up.
This pattar is also cracking slowly, just like her son and these are the moments that are really fun to watch.
The competition starts with the introduction of the judges, where the other judges are just introduced by their surnames, the final special judge is introduced with the flourish of her being Dev Chaturvedi's wife. Yahaan pe bhi, the poor lady does not have any pehchaan of her own, she needs to have the tag of being a famous painter's wife - that's why she must be hell bent on holding on to him. Anyway, as madame AC walks in, the poor T's (all of them, including the contestants) are in a tizzy, that why has she come. Of course she has come to ensure that Imlie does not win anything, neither BBC nor a place in the T house. Of course she grossly underestimates our powerful Imelya and will be shown exactly what she is capable of.
The competition starts with the rules and that they contestants have to make a non-Indian dish. This makes Imlie worried for a bit, but Pallavi assures her to just follow what she does. Imlie reminds Pallo that Sundar taught her to make pasta, so she will try making that. But as usual to build drama, Imlie is shown to look utterly confused for almost 5 mins, before looking at BS telling her that she can do it and being her silent chiraiyya gurlz😆. She starts to make her dish and spills the flour, which leads Aparna to get upset that yeh ladki humari naak katayegi (man Aparna has become the typical ITV saasuma). Pallo tries to lend her some flour, but as usual AC notices it and disqualifies her for cheating. Everyone apologizes to Pallo for putting her in that position, but Pallo is more worried about Imlie.
Imlie then decides to make her signature dish - Videshi dish pe desi tadka. I assue she makes her moti roti, but puts fancy veggies and creates a pizza type dish within 20 mins (smart girl as she knows itne time mein wohi properly pakegi). The judges are supposed to do a blind taste test, which leads to ofcourse humari Imlie's dist to be declared the best. But as soon as AC removes her blindfold & realizes that it is imlie's dish, she gets all mad and stops the announcer from announcing Imlie's name.
The precap shows AC insulting the dish saying it is only roti with veggies and disqualifying the dish, which gets Aparna mad that they lost the first round. Matlab ho na ho, she has also started having expectations from her bahu. Let's see how Imlie manages to get back her sausuma's pride.
