The highlight today was the Dev - Imlie convo as it showed Imlie's thoughts on her baba. It was short and succinct and honest. No games or beating about the bush.
Opening was the 2 T ladies who use Imlie's words against her, everything uttered by her is going to come back to haunt Imlie.. all for the sake of the nosy gossip aunty....
Dev entreats Imlie to return with him to give up Adi etc etc... she listens to him silently and then displays her true thoughts. He is nothing but a loser, who has always chosen the easy path, afraid of facing the consequences of his actions, not owning upto his mistakes. She categorically states that she will not run away from her problems, will stay and fight it out. she also has the support of all the younger T's...
As her supposed father, should he not be concerned about how she was married off, her thoughts on the incident etc.. etc.. it was all about keeping his place in society.. a man who does not keep his promises but makes many, only to break them over and over. Malini is a perfect combo of Anu from whom she gets all her haughtiness & arrogance, from Dev, how to make promises and not keep them, flip the stand in a flicker of eyelashes...
Adilie was good but again left me wanting more... where Adi tells Imlie not to plead or beg with his family to love her, not to bow down, she again listens but then follows her own path..as she hears BK calling for tea.
We have seen BK lavish praise and attention on Imlie and we see his rudra roop... where he does not even want to drink the tea she has made and sent via Sundar to deliver.. Such is her essence that she has permeated every corner of the house.. just as she said yday.. kona or room.. it is still a house.. BK threatens Imlie and sundar not to lie. The younger T's valiantly try to speak up and support Imlie.. looks like the elders only considered her a charity case..they are not judging on her past good deeds, just on the latest one that has disappointed them greatly.
Aditya - Aparna are 2 sides of a coin. Their treatment of Imlie is a circle.. who suffered at the hands of Adi first when she came to Delhi. At the time w/o Adi's support she gained the love/respect of her inlaws.. and chipped away at Adi's armour slowly. Now, it is Aparna's turn to insult Imlie, at every chance she gets to remind of her place.. as Adi first said 'tum apni jagaj mat bulna'. here she is only a maid.. Just as Adi could not admit even to himself that he was married to Imlie, Apu cannot bring herself to admit or even say it out loud.. she is in total denial. Very interesting to see them both.
I am too tired to write about DD - KC scene.. I just FF'ed and fell asleep during the 2nd watch.. it was a long day... so we have the muh dikhai drama where she will turn up after promising never to visit the T's.. so much for her promise.. it was not a pinky promise.. so it does not count..š¤£ Apu has high hopes from M and the neighborhood aunties are worried about Adi's shaadi.. wah wah..
Aah Nimji, can't believe we got almost 50% SS reserved for the C'family, while we got hardly 1 chotu sa Adilie scene to whet our appetite. Kya bolen.
But loved the way Imlie gave back to DC in the language he understands. She categorically told him that he does not deserve either of his daughters and she will not give his words the time of day, coz she does not want his "aasaan raasta". Today it was clear that no matter who asks, Imlie is not going to give up her rights on Adi. as she knows that she deserves it. She is proud of her relationship and confident in her abilities to be able to convince her in-laws to accept her. She is willing to walk the difficult path to earn her place in the T'house as well, and does not need him or his support to do so. I loved how they referenced this again, with Adi categorically explaining to BK that Imlie had a choice to take the easy way, but she has never done so. How she could have chosen to go to DC, who have a bigger house and more money, but she is still willing to stay and earn her way into their hearts.
Loved the symbolism you mentioned, where Aparna is showing Imlie her place the same way Adi used to do so. We had a long discussion yesterday on this, where both were really cut from the same cloth and react the same way when faced with a situation they cannot control. Luckily this time Imlie has a lot of people to stand by her and for her, most of all her biggest supporter in BS.
Lagta hai kal ke kaand ke chakkar mein Adi may have reached college to tell everyone that he is Imlie ka pati, especially so that no one misunderstands that he is related to Malini in anyway anymore.š
