To have such serene chemistry between the leads of a show, and to not be able to realise the value of it!
Am putting together a post on “Imlie” after forever, I think...
Not that I have much to say, but decided to stop by...
For an appreciation post on Sumbul Touqeer and Gashmeer Mahajani
Are the makers blind or what to not realise the talent at their disposal??!!
I mean, it truly pains me to think what the both of them could have brought to the table, if only the needful was taken care of...
But, sadly, mediocrity has obviously become the norm...no one, I think, on ITV cares enough to make a difference...to drive change...to deliver meaningful content within the framework of the mainstream...
“Imlie” sadly, is one such lost opportunity...of how, TRPs can also be a reflection of the audience’s evolved preferences and intellect...
Anyway, with enough said on what could have been...
The reason for the post today...
Sumbul and Gashmeer have such beautiful chemistry!!
It obviously was on glorious display during the golden days of “Imlie”
But even now, even when the rest is falling apart, these two manage to shine through
ST and GM have that unique ability (that only good actors do) to communicate through their eyes...it was obviously on display today, during Imlie’s dance performance, but more so, in the last sequence of the scene...not a single dialogue exchanged...sub kuch aankhon ka khel tha!
A beautiful touch with Aditya not necessarily returning Imlie’s overt playfulness
Yet giving in to her gay abandon, when she leaps on to him
That little moment that transpires between them...when Babusahib ‘questions’ Imlie, and she ‘replies’ in the negative
And the proverbial cherry...as Imlie’s Babusahib responds in equal measure...as he indulges her...by playfully banging his head against hers...
And, the both of them...break into smiles of sheer contentment, not to mention bliss!
Aisa hota hai chemistry
Isko kehte hai nuance
Gashmeer and Sumbul, you can most definitely take a bow!👏👍👌
If only everything else around, was as heartening...
If only the team realised the value of the potential on hand...
We could have definitely had a first on ITV...a fab piece of work, also bringing in the numbers!
Cheers!
