Set against the backdrop of a hotel, this is Shelly and Vish's love story. Shelly Sahai, is an NRI and international photo journalist. She is forced by circumstances to take up the challenge of re-inventing her legacy, a hotel handed down to her by her father.

On her journey of self-discovery, she encounters Vishwamitra Kelkar (Vish), a young man from a small town with a dark past, who not only aids her transition from a girl to a woman, but also becomes her guide and her mentor, helping her unravel the labyrinth that is the hotel.

From initial friction and simmering hate, love slowly blossoms between the two. Vish, a reluctant, laid back guy, spurs up to meet the challenge head on... from resurrecting the hotel to wooing the girl.

Story so far -

Hotel Kingston, one of the premier old world hotels and once the stopover for royalty and the riches, is now a fading institution.

The series takes us behind the scenes of a once world-class institution and introduces vividly drawn out characters. For the bellboys, waiters, musicians, chefs, bartenders, and the never-ending stream of clients, Hotel Kingston is like second home. Besides espousing values and lifestyles of the upper echelons of society we also juxtapose this with middle class aspirations and interests.

But primarily it is the love story of Vish, the assistant general manager of the hotel and Shelly Sahai, the daughter of the owner of Hotel Kingston.

Kingston is the lifeblood of an ageing business tycoon Govind Sahai, who has invested his entire savings into his dream venture.

The activities inside the hotel continue along with a parallel track of cameos coming in and out of the hotel against the backdrop of Vish and Shelly's turbulent love story.

Shelley Sahai, a photojournalist by profession, comes down from the USA with her fianc, Nick, to spend some time with her father in India. Govind Sahai's sudden ill-health just before a crisis meeting of the Board of Directors, forces Shelly Sahai to take over the reigns of Hotel Kingston.

The story opens with Govind Sahai asking Vish the assistant general manager to receive his daughter at the airport. Vish, because of some faux paux, misses Shelley and her fianc.

Vish & Shelly's relationship, though begins on a bitter note, takes a better shape as a grudging respect develops for each other when situations arise in which they have no other option but to work together.

Being very different by nature - Shelly an NRI with little knowledge of the hotel industry and bad people skills, whereas Vish, a down-to-earth and street smart guy, tend to have a complete love-hate relationship with constant bickering and differences of opinion on practically all issues. On the other hand, Shelley's fianc Nick finds it difficult to adapt to the changing nature of Shelley, with her getting more and more involved in managing the hotel. A culmination point is reached when Shelly and Vish go for a business trip to Pune. The trip brings Vish and Shelly closer and Nick, the jealous and possessive fianc, takes a final call of returning back to the USA.

The incidents that take place during the trip force Shelly and Vish to acknowledge the fact that both of them love Hotel Kingston and would be willing to go to any lengths to make it the best hotel ever. It also becomes obvious to the viewers that Cupid has struck and the two just don't want to acknowledge it… yet!

A regular arrival of colorful guests, strange instances and various problems keep Shelly & Vish on their toes and often brings to the fore-front the different viewpoints the two have on each of these incidents. Vish and Shelly also realize that though their viewpoints might differ, the end goal is the same - to make Hotel Kingston sail through any of the problematic situations that each episode throws up.

Different guests like an old world Nawab, a modern day Love Guru, a prostitute, and a fake doctor continue to make Hotel Kingston a very colorful place to be in. Every episode throws new problems at Vish and Shelly and the two, sometimes together and sometimes with differences, face the challenges along with the staff of the hotel. And amidst all this, the two have to come to terms with their ever-increasing attraction for each other.

Episode 23 - April 14, 2005

Shelley is briefing all maids about the VIPs, specifically a politician and a model coming to the hotel. Vish catches Bindra eyeing one of the maids. Shelley who happens to notice Vish eyeing the maid enquires from Vish about her and Vish informs her the maid is a new recruit.

The following day, Meena, the good-looking maid requests Vish to allow her to keep her son in the hotel with her. Vish grants her request, of course, once again without seeking permission from Shelley.

All the staff seems to be impressed with Girish Purohit, the politician. Lizzy, the ex-super model, also staying in the hotel looks forward to meeting him as soon as possible. Meena, the new maid, while cleaning Lizzy's room happens to try the model's smart outfit.

In another part of the hotel, Purohit who happens to meet Meena's son Kaku, gets impressed with the child. Purohit wants to take him out with him thinking he too is staying in the hotel, when the child insists that he take his mother's permission. Purohit accompanies the child to Lizzy's room and meets Meena dressed in one of Lizzy's outfits.

Purohit is pleasantly surprised by Meena's beauty; and assumes her to be a guest in the hotel. He comes to know from Kaku that he does not have a father. Purohit decides to invite Meena to the charity ball with him.

Purohit's secretary sends an invitation for lunch to Lizzy, mistaking her for Meena through Vish. Lizzy enters Purohit's room all dressed up to go for lunch. Purohit is shocked and questions Vish since he had sent the invite through him for Meena. Vish goes to cross-check with Lizzy in her room when he catches Meena there, looking for her badge that she had left there by mistake.

Vish is angry with Meena and insists that she tell the truth to Purohit. Meena agrees and heads towards Purohit's room. Lizzy, who is already present in Purohit's room, yells at Meena, calling her a thief. Meena apologizes to Purohit, who forgives her and accepts her with Kaku, saying her profession and class doesn't bother him.

Shelley gets upset with Vish at the end of all this, accusing him of breaking the hotel's rules yet again, but as usual the tables are turned as Vish tells her about the first impression she had left on his mind!

Episode 25 - April 28, 2005


On a new morning Shelley and Vish are at the entrance of the Hotel. Shelley is complaining to Vish about the Hotel staff being incompetent and indisciplined. Vish denies this saying her observations generally go wrong. Both are in an argument when together they notice Bindra in conversation with a good-looking woman at the reception. Shelley turns to Vish and scorns at Bindra's "affairs".

Bindra quite loses it when Priyesh teases him about being in love with a woman who looks a little older than him. Bindra tells Priyesh to mind his own business.

Priyesh's non-stop gossip in the Hotel regarding Bindra and Mrs. Mehra gets all the staff also talking about the "love affair".

Bindra complains about Priyesh to Vish and Priyesh goes and complains to Shelly about Bindra.

Both Bindra and Priyesh get into a full-fledged fight till Vish asks Bindra to apologize. On the other hand Shelley asks Priyesh to make up with Bindra and also say sorry to Vish.

Bindra goes to Shelley asking her to forgive him telling her the sad story of Mrs.Mehra. Shelley pardons him and with her extra sweet behavior, Bindra develops a soft corner for his boss.

With Shelley and Vish being instrumental between the two, all gets sorted between Bindra and Priyesh.

Shelley and Vish's never ending argument, surprisingly leads them to decide that they finally need to go out on a date and figure out a way to stop this non stop bickering!

Episode 26 - May 5, 2005


Having accepted Vish's proposal to go for a date, Shelley gets all prepared for it. Vish too is as excited about the two going out together outside the hotel to meet. It just so happens that two families check into the hotel to get their son and daughter to meet for marriage. The temperaments of both the parents' differ and it's obvious never the twain shall meet! On the other hand, both the girl and the boy have an instant chemistry and they both decide to meet outside the hotel to know each other better, away from the parents. And needless to mention, their plan of meeting outside the hotel "collides" with Vish and Shelley's date, creating a misunderstanding between them with Shelly assuming Vish has other plans besides the 'date' with her. A piece of paper having the time and venue of a meeting place sent by the girl for the boy reaches Shelley, further complicating matters. Vish and Shelly try their best to get out of the hotel but as usual, there are a million things to do and many hurdles to cross… For Vish and Shelly, it's a race against time to keep their date!

Episode 27 - May 12, 2005
On a new day in Hotel Kingston, both Vish and Shelley laugh as they discuss the date that never happened. At the reception, two couples check in, asking for two double rooms. Priyesh informs them about the availability of two "Honeymoon Suites." Shelley, as part of her routine, checks the new Honeymoon Suites set up in the Hotel and also welcomes the two couples, as they are the first couple checking in to the suites. It so happens that the staff realize that the couples are not married. On the other hand, in an effort to make the last date happen, Vish ends up telling the staff that both he and Shelley would be busy at 9 PM, discussing the staff appraisals and bonus so they should not be disturbed. The entire staff get busy, trying to impress their bosses for a good appraisal.


Episode 28 - May 19, 2005
Sujit still cannot believe he saw Vish and Shelly kissing. On the other hand, both Shelley and Vish feel on top of the world. A guest, Mr. Mahapatra comes to the hotel with his wife. Vish and Shelley, too lost in themselves, ignore the happenings in the hotel. Mahapatra faces problems with the room that he is put up in, as also with the kind of service he is getting. Mrs Mahapatra, on the other hand, does not see any problem with the hotel after his meeting with Vish and thinks of him to be the most suitable bachelor for one of her cousins' daughter. Things worsen when it is revealed that Mr Mahapatra is a hotel inspector. He gives them two days' notice after which his assistants would come and look at the hotel and finally take a decision whether the hotel needs to be shut down. An upset Govind orders Vish and Shelley to get things into place. At the same time, two cutlery salesmen arrive. Mistaken to be the two assistants of the Hotel Inspector, they are given VIP treatment. Finally, Mr Mahapatra also comes in and inspects the hotel, wanting to give the hotel a very low rating. However, his wife keeps nagging him until he agrees to give a higher rating. Just as the inspector gives a favorable verdict, Mrs Mahapatra realises that Vish and Shelly have something going on between them. Immediately, her entire opinion about the hotel changes, and she now starts pestering her husband to give the hotel a bad rating. Mr Mahapatra, by now completely fed up of his wife, refuses to do so. Vish is talking to Sujit about Mrs Mahapatra's consideration of him, as a suitable groom for some girl in the family, when Shelley overhears them. Having heard only half the conversation, Shelly misunderstands and gets very upset, speaking rudely with Vish who is shocked at the sudden change in her behavior.

Episode 29 - May 26, 2005


A phone call starts the entire confusion. If Vish refuses to pay up the three lakhs that he owes on his credit card, he would have to face dire consequences While he is trying to extricate himself out of the situation, Shelley is upset with him as she thinks he had told Surjit about their date. On the other hand, Akash happens to be tapping the Hotel Kinston phone and learns about Vish being threatened. Akash is now convinced of this opportunity to create problems at Kingston. Bindra chances upon an advertisement ensuring that for a certain amount of money, he would be given a chance to pour his heart out to the woman he loves which currently is Shelley. He gets in touch with the woman in charge (Radhika) who offers to send Mr. Gonsalves to work on Shelley. Akash sends his man to hold Shelley hostage so as to implicate Vish. Shelley and Vish have to come to blows yet again and this time Vish decides to hand in his resignation. A bungled kidnapping, a lovers tiff, and a messed up attempt at wooing one's love make up this episode of Hotel Kingston.

Episode 31 - June 9, 2005


Another day at Kingston. Shelley gets into her office to find Vinay Mathur, a meek, shy character awaiting with a business offer. After a brief interaction, Mathur expresses his desire to see the Hotel before finalizing the deal and leaves. Shelley makes all arrangements for this and instructs the staff to take good care of Mathur.

Just then Aseem Mathur (Vinay's identical twin), comes there to attend an interview! Vish mistakes him for Vinay and shows him around. Flambouyant, playful and flirtatious, Assem is totally opposite Vinay! What follows is a complete comedy of errors that turns the entire Hotel upside down.

Episode 32 - June 16, 2005

A film shoot in progress and Hotel Kingston is once again abuzz with excitement and activity, with all out there, watching the director take his shots. Shelley invites Vish for dinner at her place that night and plans are being made for that perfect romantic evening. Meanwhile the director, Resham is shocked when the second female lead in the film refuses doing the role.

Actor Rajesh Kumar, finds Shelley, the best option available. But Shelley is dead against the idea. Vish manages to convince Shelley to act, saying the hotel would be at loss on a lot of business if the shooting is stopped!

And then begins the turmoil, on the sets and in the life of Shelley and Vish. Vish finally admits his love for her. Before Shelley can acknowledge her own feelings, a whiff from the past arrives- in the form of her fiance Nick.

Episode 33 - June 23, 2005

Hotel Kingston, is the venue chosen by two rich families for the marriage of their children. Shelley and Vish supervise the arrangements. Vish wonders on Shelley's sudden change in attitude towards him, little realising that Nick is back!

Fed up with the outdated customs, the bride and the groom want their marriage to be "different"! Firdaus (the groom & Vedant's friend) bribes Bobby to send a message to Jignasia (the bride). All hell breaks lose when she slips out of her room.! The families mistake her as a case of runaway bride and blame it all on the bad vibes of Hotel Kingston!

Vish and Shelley finally manage finding the bride and also change the families' opinion on Hotel Kingston. They also try to contend with their own feelings.


Episode 34 - June 30, 2005

The sudden arrival of Nick shocks Shelly. He is a changed person, filled with patriotic feelings and respect for all the freedom fighters that he knew through Hindi Films.

Vish expects Shelley to tell Nick about them. Shelley is in a complicated situation thinking how she would explain things to both Nick and Vish at the same time. Nick charms all with his changed attitude. Even Govind and Devyani are happy to see a changed Nick!

Talking to Devyani, Shelley realizes how much her father and Devyani need each other at this point of their lives and decides to speak with her father about it! Nick also suggests that they both take the initiative and announce their engagement soon!

Seeing Vish upset, Shelley decides to tell Nick about her and Vish. But stops when Nick talks of their engagement!



Episode 35 - July 7, 2005


Shelley is ahocked when Nick declares that they will get engaged alongwith Devyani and Govind. The next morning, a guest by name Anand Singh (aged 75) checks in the hotel. But this simple and undemanding man asked to wait by the staff at the reception. Finally, he gets a room, that has no AC nor a phone. In spite of being an asthma patient, he quietly puts up in that room.

Vish is shocked to learn of Nick and Shelley's engagement taking place on the same day as her father's with Devyani and he is angry that Shelley has not informed Nick about their relationship! Upset, he is in the corridor when he sees Anand Singh looking for the kitchen. Surprised at the state of a Hotel guest, Vish in anger scolds the concerned staff.

On realising that Anand Singh was a freedom fighter, Nick is overwhelmed with joy and makes Anand Singh meet Shelley. Shelley is at the terrace garden when Vish comes to talk to her. Suddenly both notice Anand Singh down in the garden collapsing. Both run towards him, get him to his room and take care of him. Back at the terrace garden, both sensing the fear of losing someone dear and loved, are about to hold each other's hand when Nick calls Shelley!
